Can't you find a paint artist to repaint the old badges? In my opinion the raised letter badges are so much nicer than all the others, I have been searching for raised letter C-badges before but didn't find any. Don't know how rare they actually are?
If not, maybe you want to sell them both to me?

No I didn't, I found a set of used but good condition enamel C badges.

i trimmed the length of the pins to just sit in the holder and not hit the body
and set with weatherstrip adhesive
