Finally got my '71 CS home after its shipment from Germany. Put some pictures in my prior thread in new owner introductions.
I've been told Bristol is not a common color for these cars, so I was wondering if anyone has information about it.
Thanks.
Bill

Never seen one before. I thought it would look like clearcoat applied to primer with no paint but it looks awesome in your picture!

Could you post more photos. My coupe is Polaris and I am partial to greys and silver.

thanks, Steve

Only two in our Registry, both 2800CS, definitely an early color, have never seen a 3.0CS in Bristol. Has BMW confirmed? Is it Registered???

bristol...

I bought a few parts from a picker in CO Springs several years back, all from a 2800 that didn't sound like it belonged in the "yard"...all very clean and dry, including a very nice Bristol e9 nose piece. Thought Bristol was an early 02, 1600, and maybe Neuclasse color; I've never seen it on an actual e9. I love gray, and also grey...

Bristol CS--more pictures

Here are a couple more recent photos, including one on I-5 next to a modern 7 to show how chubby BMW's have become.
I will enter it into Registry soon. Wanted to make sure it really got here before doing so.
The paint code 058 is on the door medallion and confirmed by BMW archive.

Chubby? The Bangle Butt.
"Unfortunately for Bangle, all of the criticism led to his eventual retirement. Yes, he supposedly quit on his own terms, but the millions of people calling for his job probably had a little bit to do with it."

The color of the car in the first picture looks great and fits the NW weather so well...

That looks fantastic. Do you live in a state where you can keep the euro plate in front?

That is a really nice color. Thanks for the pictures. Have not seen that before.

The first photo confirms Bristol is THE color. At least for me. It reveals the curves, lines, design, sculpting, what ever you want to call it, of our classic, timeless Coupes. Even more than my much loved Polaris. Hard to admit but true for me.

i agree with you on showing the lines of the car. the first 300sl gullwing i saw was a dove gray color (not the typical silver metallic) ... and it was beautiful, really showed the lines better than any other color i have seen. slightly warmer of a gray than Bristol.

RS, the first 300SL Gullwing I saw was driven by a gorgeous blonde. And, she had the doors open all the way!!! secured by a leather strap. It was a hot summer day. Or...? And it was in a suburb of Pittsburgh! It was silver.

Years ago my mechanic cared for two Gullwings. One had the factory suitcases in back. He would call me and I would go and sit in them.

And he also cared for a Sahara 2800CS I would also sit in. Until he called me one day and said the Widow Gibson was selling her coupe. Stretched to buy it but she wanted it to go to someone who would love it. Turned down two other offers, higher than mine I am sure, and sold it to me. Those were the days.

Steve, great story of how things used to be. My dad bought our home in CT much the same way, the guy had 5 kids and we were 4 kids, he told my dad that he wanted it to go to someone whose kids would run amuck in it like his did at 30% less than asking price, which we could hardly afford-somehow the old man made it work!

Those days are not gone, there's just less of them :-)

My 70 CS is also Bristol. It's one of the two in the registry. It's been in the shop for the last two years getting new fenders, wheelhouses, rockers, brakes and anything else that deteriorated from sitting 23 years. Maybe one of these years I'll get to drive it again.
