1971 BMW 2800CS Engine Burn

Just for the interior I am tempted. Seats, wood and carpet make the current bid worth it for that. The engine bay will be a right mess though. I am going to guess that they did not replace fuel lines from the donor engine and one broke to result in the current unfortunate end...

I'm guessing that Salvage Certificate is going to mean it will have salvage title. Too bad, the car look nice.

6400 for seats wood and carpet ?!?

Then back out the sale of your existing wood and seats, say $700.
I see at least another $1,000 coming in from bumpers, console, trim and lots more lurking in the trunk. Anyone price decent original elephant skin recently.
If you can find it. Maybe $1.000 is low.

This car should be put back together, not parted! The salvage title is. but of a scarlet letter, so just be mindful of how much money you dump into it. Whatever the fire issue was, it was quickly suppresses. If you've ever watch a vehicle fire it takes very little time to leave you with nothing.

A later post suggested 2000 for seats. I don't think that is possible for how nice this car is and it also has trims to match. If it is, please let me know but for higher end work I am hearing more like 4k. Then the wood may be 1000, but then there is postage as well ans the same with carpet. That all said, I totally agree this car warants a return to service. Also, if there are recommended places for exceptional leather work for 2k, please pm me with details because I will soon be looking to get my car done.

That was what it would take to replicate. Gahh covers would be at least $2,000 to buy front and rears. Plus a boat load of money to install properly.

AYOU CAN REGISTER A SALVAGE -CANT YOU?
IVE BOUGHT ONE BEFORE AND DID IT
DEFINATELY WORTH GETTING ON THE ROAD
HECK THE DASH IS PERFECT
+THE AC ON N ON IT SEEMS TO ME TO BE GOOD
ENGINE BAYS ARE EASY

Yes you can register and drive a salvage vehicle. I bought my jeep back after it was totaled and drove it as a commuter for several years after. The car never left my possession.

In Indiana, there is a process that needs to be followed to get a rebuilt title when buying a salvage car. It involves inspections etc before the new title is issued. Therefore I imagine other states may have nuances. The car is now up to 7600 but still no date is set for auction close.

Good buy if it's rust-free and under $10k.

Put in a 3.5L and wiring harness...paint the engine compartment and you're good!

It really costs 10 to 15 grand to redo an e9 interior depending on how complete you want to go with all the materials and what the labor costs if you are not doing it yourself . The front covers and the rear covers are 2000 each in leather from world so that would be 4g right there .,vinyl is half that. plus new padding which in horse hair is 150 per seat . Carpet is 800 and door panels are 400 each. The wood is 11oo from Bella butbifvyou do it from Madeira concepts it's 3G . Then the labor to recover and stuff the seats and install the carpet and new lading and to take out and reinstall the wood which may require full dash removal and front windshield removal and replacement is going to be costly in labor . I think VSR charged 2000 to take out and reinstall new wood for someone on here . If you can get all the interior parts from that. Copart car for under 10g that look almost new you would be saving a lot of money especially after reselling all the stuff you don't need like bumpers . Etc
