can somebody with a 2800cs take a picture of the trunk badge and get me the mounting dimensions + spacings. i need to mount a new badge and the holes in my trunk have been filled + painted.

thanks in advance
scott

Mines a little tweaked (as can be seen in the photo) and there may have been some body work but here is what I have.....You may want to get corroborating input before drilling

I can measure mine tomorrow if you want a second opinion. Say the word scott!

Mine's in the shop right now but to my eye, the 2800 is too close to the CS on viphoto's photo. And fun fact: the S can be mounted 180 degrees wrong. Ask me how I know.

please Mark ... i want to be sure. can you also take a pic of the underside of the trunk - showing the pin arrangement ... so i can make sure that the S isn't mounted upside down (per Don's comment)

what shop is your coupe in? is it in Atlanta or up in Athens? if it is in Atlanta, any place that i might know?

one more request. what is the dimension from the bottom of the trunk (edge) to the bottom of the roundel?

i will see what my body guy recommends. going to take the coupe in for some detail touch-up work. he does a lot of Porsche work (for Porsche North America) as well as other high end cars.

I think you are right on the spacing... Came across a couple photos online and mine are too close ( both the c and s look to have genaric two sided tape that who ever repainted must have used when they guessed where to place them ). I look forward to seeing what the spacing should be.

Do the C and S have pins originally or were they peel and stick? Looks like BMW addressed placement on later models (which were peel and stick ) in their workshop Manuals ...Wonder if there was a bulletin or addendum for the E9's as they skip over any 51-14 info in the early manuals.

Yes there are/were pins on the badges, but I used 3M's 'VHB' (Very High Bond) dbl sided tape during remounting.
VHB tape is an industrial grade adhesive tape used in the auto industry for putting dash boards together etc. Crazy stuff, not cheap and very permanent. Badges have been taped mounted for 10+years of spirited use and still on solid. I used original badge holes to place the CS badge, then months later sourced the missing 2800 badge and did my best guess for its placement based on photo research. I'll share a badge mount pic for reference when I return to the batcave in a week or so.

It's here in Athens. I'll swing by tomorrow and check the spacing. You can tell whether the S is mounted correctly by the bevel on the top surface. It should match the C.

thanks Don, I appreciate it. can you also check the dimension between the bottom of the trunk lid and the bottom of the roundel.

I haven't paid much attention to my project car. Looks like I still have some moss in my badge. :D My 'S' is off as well so I'm not sure how useful the front measurements are.

These measurements start from the passenger-side trunk edge to the mounting holes:

2 - two tabs
8 - no tabs
0 - no tabs
0 - two tabs
C - two tabs
S - two tabs

'2' (too far from trunk edge for calipers)
