Just bought these seats because i think they are the coolest ever.
They are foldable and must come from a coupe.
My plan is to reupholster them and fit them in my e9.
What are the story of ASS seats? Are they a copy of scheelmann?

Should have a plate riveted to the back. They're Scheel seats, I think before the merged with other companies?

Very cool seats! I have a pair of 203's ( slim bolsters ).
Yours are pretty early, you can tell by the hinges.
The A.S.S. company originated from Scheel and is still active. Today they are located in the Netherlands.
A.S.S. also supplied seats to BMW's Motorsport division.

ASS - Germans don’t have a good enough sense of humor… (apologies in advance). My guess is they realized the acronym wouldn’t work in English speaking countries and used a different badge outside of Germany.

Don't expect much lumbar support out of those.
There was a version of this style seat that had adjustable lumbar, and which provides excellent lumbar support (IMHO). I don’t see the lumbar adjust knob on this pair (would be on inside side of backrest).

You can always retrofitted the orig mechanism or a DIY support under the upholstery is more support is desired.

Actually I was just riffing on the emphasis on derrieres in the product name. If the company was called B.A.C.K., I'd expect that the bottom cushion might be a little thin.

All that said, that's interesting to know.

You guys all know that Recaro built the first Porsche 356’s, right? They have a pretty cool company history that predates Porsche (under the Reuter name).
