Looks as well-cared for and pampered as the carport and driveway it resides in. Somewhere a previous owner is weeping.
Says 1974 automatic, the car is 72 manual.

I just can't help to feel that while we are laughing our asses off (that includes me), someone is headed to Cathedral City with $17k in their pocket to see if the rest of the sheet metal is as rust free as the rear floors...

I'm sure that will all buff out fine, including the interior!
But I would pay a pretty penny for that rock...that has it going on! Low maintenance, doesn't rust or get beaten down by the Sun!

That would be a 7 hour drive for me. I am sure the metal is solid and the car is worth restoring. Still not driving with or without cash in my pocket.

My guess is that it is a 74 euro but in registering it in the US it was titled as a 72 for an easier time emissions wise which was commonly done by many gray market importers.
Ummmm....you may want to look again, there are three holes on the front driver quarter alone, the big on to the right of drivers side door (odd to rust there, no? seems water would bead off off there, slow drip on it?). Trunk has a hole as does rear quarter. On top of that, they don't have one pic of the passenger side, rockers, or floor up front, etc very minimal pics.
I love your humor but sometimes I can't tell if you are joking or not...anyhow, I... like everyone here wants all of these coupes to be "saved." But unless pocket book is unlimited and more importantly time...IDK?
Aren't desert cars supposed to be "rust free." Cathedral City is not somewhere I would expect to see a coupe, that place is a nightmare (unless one is a meth addict). I'll leave it at that.

Yes, you are probably right. From the few photos my bet was that the holes were the result of impact type of neglect, not water or salt. The question is when was the car moved from Europe to the dry CA weather. I was joking of course, the serious question in pursuing the car is mostly how to bring the car back. No plate probably means the car doesn't run, and in any case 7 hours at 110F in a neglected 1972 car? Vultures would be happy.
