Hurricane Helene

yes, but storm surge won't go uphill 1000 ft above sea level ... hopefully we will only have tropical storm force winds and tons of rain. the ground here is already soaked, been raining for 2 days. my coupe is in the middle of a paint / body shop on stands and the shop is on high ground. we've got the other cars put away and have stuff on standby if we lose power. it is what it is.

Trees are your concern

yep, when trees / limbs come down, power tends to go OFF ... and we have a ton of big trees. hoping mine and my neighbors stay together. the only good news is that its not the middle of the summer.

one of the people i worry about the most is @Bejoe16 as he is down in Albany, GA and that is in the 'hurricane' zone. our friend @Dan Wood is close to that zone. its going to be an interesting evening / early morning hours.

@dbower might be getting it right now at 4 AM

glad we don't live anywhere near the Chattahoochee river ... and most importantly Peachtree Creek - flooding along the creeks has been horrible - entire roads / bridges underwater. saw some pics of the Bobby Jones golf course - underwater. can only imagine what happened down south in the panhandle of Florida and along the northwest coast. we have had non-stop local coverage of what happened here, so we haven't been able to see the national news. perhaps tonight.

We got two feet on our first floor. Which was pretty stripped out since Ian. Lost fridge, ac, pool heater, muddy pool, stinky. Was pretty bad. There had not been storm surge here since 1960, until Ian in 2022 and now Helene.
Ian brought us 7 feet on this level.
Surge this time was 5.5 feet above mean high tide.
All cars marked safe.
Fun weekend ahead.

good luck with the cleanup Scott. never fun. i went through many hurricanes in Louisiana as a kid including helping my grandparents cleanup in Gulfport, MS after Camille
