Hi all CSL owners & Guru's,

I have a question regarding the bonnet/hood latch on 2275 series 3.0 CSL's. I am aware these cars had bonnet/hood pins from factory but I would like to know if any ever had the internal release cable system fitted or if the mounting components were there on the body to make retro fitting bonnet release cable possible in later life?

Specifically, was the tube the cable runs through from the left side of fire wall and the mounting points for the catches on both sides of the planum chamber there from the factory on all E9's no matter if they were CSL's with bonnet/hood pins?

Does anyone have any good engine bay pictures they could post to answer this originality question?

Thanks in advance for any info shared.

2275xxx Bonnet/hood latch

As regards the CSL 2275xxx cars, there are different versions. The cars without "interior CS/CSi release cable system" had no cable tube at all. No retro fitting was prepared or possible (unless the owner arrange it by himself). Only the mounting points for the catches on both sides of the planum chamber were factory.

Pls see picture nr 4:

However, most of the city-pack cars (with or without power-steering), had the above mentioned system with cable tube and everything.

The interior cable release system was an option and had to be ordered to the car when new. In the price list from June 1974, the price to pay for this system was 59 DM. BTW, the last time this option appeared in the price list, was also in June 1974. For the carb CSLs, no such system exist. The bats (including 4355xxx) were available in the two versions.

I hope it helps

Cheers

Hello Henric,

Thank you for your excellent reply. By your answer I can safely say a CSL with City Pack RHD 2285*** car would have interior cable release system but a CSL within the 2275430-539 range should not have any evedance of interior release system.

Are there any other small body shell variations to be aware of that this series of Batmobiles would be different to regular E9 CS & CSI models?

Cheers

Hi,

Carb: 2210xxx-2211xxx-2212xxx = no interior release system

RHD: 2285xxx = interior release system

LHD: 2275001-2275429
LHD Bat: 2275430-2275539
LHD Bat: 4355001-4355057
For the above mentioned injection LHD CSLs - including the bats, both systems were available. The interior release system normally factory with the city-pack cars. A non city-pack CSL should have no trace of the interior release system (except the mounting points for the catches on both sides of the planum chamber).

Cheers

Henric
