Here's the schedule and race groups for the Laguna Seca Rolex Historics:

Scott Pruett Endurance:

Andretti Open Wheel:

Unser Family Cup:

Steve Walker has a 2002 and Luigi running:
  • 2002: Pedro Rodriguez (against a '65 GT40, a '66 GT40 and three Porsche 910's)
  • Luigi: Peter Gregg

Zak Brown is driving in at least two different races.
  • Peter Gregg
  • Unser

James Farley (Ford CEO) will be in the Ken Miles group with his black 289 Shelby. There's a Bizarrini 5300 GT in that race!

The Unser group is going to be nuts. From the website:
  • "24 IROC race cars will join the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion for the first time. Come see champions race, including Jeff Gordon, Kurt Busch, Bobby Labonte, Ken Schrader, Danny Sullivan, Dario Franchitti, Scott Pruett, Zak Brown, and many more. The Grand Marshal of the IROC class is Al Unser Jr. "

Fun event at BMW of Monterey today. Separate areas dedicated to before (around 50 cars) and after 2000 (probably over 100). Only one coupe but lots of fun cars.

Good warm-up for legends tomorrow

Had a foggy morning at Legends this morning with it finally clearing around noon. Here’s some pics of the of the super clean class group which was stacked with five beautifully restored coupes. One of SFdon’s clients cars got first in a gorgeous Tundra coupe , SFdon got second and Paul Cain got third.

Here’s a few more random shots. BMW 750 with just a little surface rust, Friis Brothers Racings E9 and E3, and the new M2CS and M5s. Can’t say I’m a fan of the M2CS rear. The opposite of restrained elegance is an understatement.

I participated in the Pacific Grove Rotary Concours and Drive today and came away with a ribbon for Hottest Wheels whatever you interpret that to mean. It’s judged by the Rotary members with no real criteria other than the name of the category. It’s a fun event because it’s a mixture of people that know what an E9 is, as well as lots of people who just stop and admire the classic beauty for the first time.

Don, congratulations taking 2nd at Legends, and being the restorer for the winning coupe! They were both amazing. When I dropped my fjord coupe off last fall to get the work done, I wasn’t fully paying attention to what you were saying to me, as that tundra beauty was parked next to it.

Laguna Seca was epic! Can’t get enough of vintage racing. Jim Farley dominated his class in a 289 Cobra (gives me some hope for American manufacturers with a car guy of this caliber running Ford).

Then, you see this kind of stuff just sitting in the paddock. Mind was blown.
