I listed this CSi on BaT in July and no bidders showed up. He would still like to sell and the price he will consider it is a steal in my mind. If you know of anyone who might be interested please have them contact me, I will not post the price here. I was very impressed with the quality of the restoration, the work done to it by sfdon and the way it drove.

@HB Chris Oooh, maybe good it didn't sell…looks too nice to emotionally part with…but whatever the motivations / reasons to sell, wish it goes for the desired amount AND to the Right next Owner….shoot, i am literally on proverbial fence myself selling my 74e3-Bavaria that JUST got brand new Dual Webers to an already nice driving original (automatic) Bavaria and also my 69e3-2800 4spd that runs so nicely especially with the new Webers…if i find the “right buyers” ( people who both know OR desire to know) these cars, appreciate these older models and periodically exercises them)….but sincere best wishes to you HBchris with this nice e9…..thomas in N Y

The car is a great driver. Someone will get a finished car for a serious discount.

Tell the owner Pre-stage C&C in Marin on Nov 15th. Vintage BMW M cars will be featured...

This gorgeous coupe checks all the boxes. I love the color combo. One of the very best for sale this year. I was shocked that it didn't do much better on BaT. Best of luck with this sale!

What a great car! For someone in the market for a very decent coupe, in California, this would be high on my list. At first i wasn't in love with the color. But looking at it again today, I am surprised by how well the flat blue works with the red leather.

Even if one would want a different color or CSL styling items - the discount that seems to be possible could pay for (some of) it. And still have a sub 100K car that looks a million.

@Rudy3.0CS Indeed. Bad time to load off cars or parts. I guess i'll hold on to my parts for a few years more...

To a certain extent the market has spoken regarding its value. Seems the comments dinged it for value on the color combination and lack of AC. Perhaps it should have sold on the BAT auction. Very hard to imagine a sales venue with more eyes on it. Typical auctions are now 12% plus misc costs like shipping to the auction. So it's hard to see an option that provides substantially more money to the seller. My guess is that if it sells now it will be for less than the auction amount. It is a very nice car with a sound backstory.

My post about the Malaga 2800 that eventually sold for $30,000 after the BaT auction ended.

Worth every penny and more to the right buyer. A good result for the seller, a much better one for the buyer.

If you have forgotten already, it is a BMW E9 Coupe. All we need to know.

What will we be saying when the market returns to reality five or so years from now?

Steve, I hear you, but before we say that the market will “return to reality” shouldn’t we know what is causing the dip in the first place?

I’ve been tracking E9 sales (and high bids) on BaT. Here are the numbers. As it says this is just for N. America, and excludes CSLs and cars listed as “project”

It’s a pretty significant dip from the peak in 2021, and it gets even worse when you adjust for inflation. In that case, we are back to the values of the early days of BaT:

Minivan, I chalk it up to Insecurity. Boldface because the Insecurity is spread far and wide and deep. Job and health care Insecurity. Inflation Insecurity. Recession or worse Insecurity. Leadership Insecurity. Climate Insecurity. Covid after-shock Insecurity. Feel free to add a couple of your favorites. But thinking about it i would substitute the word
Fear for Insecurity.

I find your "Inflation Adjusted" chart deeply disturbing. After seven years we are smack back where we were seven years ago.
