Seat flip-forward lever

FWIW mine has these. I am going to retire these seats, so I may sell them as cores or part the trim out.

Side knobs don't look much different from your 3D printed ones...

Scott - a bit hard to tell from your picture with the angle, but the ones we are having trouble finding are teardrop shaped like a gearshift. The “squashed teardrop” shape is more available. If you have the teardrop shape then someone would be happy to purchase them from you I suspect

Semi-related. This thread got me thinking. Maybe someone here knows the trick to get rid of the seat back slop. I tried taking a look once long ago and it seemed to require disassembling the seat further than I was comfortable with (i.e.) destroying the upholstery). Is there a secret to this?

Ignore creaking doors. I keep them that way for Halloween sound effects.

its been a while since i disassembled the seat. but a lot of the mechanism is on the underside of the seat, you don't have to take any upholstery apart - just some of the trim. as i remember, you take the side trim off (and knobs) ... i removed the seat back from the bottom. so it was easy to flip it over and work on the mechanism. the seatback release knob connects to a rod inside the seatback with 2 cables that release the 2 seatlocks. as @sfdon mentions, there are 2 rubber buffers and they are important. seems like there is a spring that keeps the latch tight ... i just don't remember exactly. the downside of getting inside the seatback is that you have to remove the seatback and i don't remember how hard it is to remove - if all of the trim is unscrewed, i think it pops off. what i don't remember is whether or not you have to remove the chrome trim on the seatback - that involves drilling out rivets and then reinstalling them.

i just noticed on this 74 for sale (marginal shape), but it is doubtful that this seat has had the knob replaced ... and its the newer kind, but not new. perhaps the knob changed in the 74 model?
