Hi all. New member here, checking in from Charlottesville, Virginia.
I've been into pillarless coupes for a while now. I have a '64 Mercedes 300SE W112 with a four-speed manual, and that car set the standard for me. Hard to go back to a B-pillar after that.
I just finished rebuilding the engine on my '69 2002 and stumbled across my dream project: a '72 3.0 CS Euro-spec in Taiga Green. I've wanted one of these for as long as I can remember.
For fun, I put together a fictional luxury car rental site around my random collection. The "dream build" 3.0 CS just got its own page. If you're curious, here it is: getawaycar-duiolpgt.manus.space
Looking forward to learning from all of you as I get into this build.
Best,
Chris

welcome to e9coupe! glad you found your dream project. we would encourage you to document your project here on e9coupe.com ... you can start a thread on the car in e9 projects and restorations and add to it as you can. that will keep all of us engaged in helping you and everything will be here in one place. i would also recommend that you get familiar with the FAQ with threads on wiring, rubber, best sources, tires + wheels. when you are stumped on something, ask a question in the e9 discussion forum ... you will find lots of help. there are also WTB / WTS forum for when you need something or have too much of something.

You have a very cool, eclectic collection. And it's hard to top that gorgeous taiga coupe. Welcome to the forum!
Thanks for the note. The E9 coupe will be a fun journey. The 2002 is nearly wrapped... getting new Gahh interior this week after a complete engine rebuild (new W&N head).

Growing up in New Orleans, I saw several E9s running around. Never thought I would have one. When I realized this one was Taiga... Where do I sign :)

so when were you in NOLA? i lived there while going to school from 75 to 80 and was active in the Bayou chapter of 'CCA. used to TSD rally with Harmon Fischer in his 2002 and a few others. there were only a couple of CS in the area back in the day. i had an architecture professor that had a 2000 cs ... the 6er CSi became popular during that time frame.

i lived uptown - hillary + burthe (1 block from Bruno's). my first malaga 2002 was stolen from that intersection in 1980. never found

i first saw a turkis 3.0cs in Lafayette in the early 70s
there was a Sahara 2800cs owned by John Poret
i know there was a dark blue 2800cs in Houma in the early 80s
eddie boettner had a 74 sienabraun - owned it from the late 80s to 2011 ... sold it to Mark Starr
there was a fjord car in the late 70s that i saw.
i remember hearing about a fjord 74

looking thru the ancestry project,
there was an atlantik 2800 cs owned by Torrey Reily

Don’t forget that Steve’s first coupe was Malaga
true, good catch. i just don't know when he moved down to NOLA ... my records show he sold it in 1987 ... so yes that would have been the malaga seen in the 80s. he sold it to a Michael Brown, but i don't know where he lived.
