Hi everyone,

Just a quick word to give everyone a heads-up that my CSL is LIVE on BaT!

As many of you know, it’s been a long journey with this car—from my original ownership back in '86, selling it to Russ Hibbard in '93, and repurchasing it from Russ in late 2020. It’s a fantastic car that’s had Don L’s hands all over it to refresh it to safe running condition, along with Bill Arnold rectifying the suspension with new progressive springs and Spax adjustable shocks. The car is currently running 15" ATS wheels but it includes a freshly restored set of 1972 date code Alpina 5-hole wheels. That said the ATS wheels are very light and actually look appropriate IMHO.

The factory LSD was just rebuilt by Pete from Pete’s Gear, and the front seats were entirely rebuilt internally with fresh padding and Scheel fabric sourced from Gerrit Blankman. Also from Gerrit was a factory-correct lightweight felt carpet kit, installed at the same time. The car features a repop 4-ring CSL-specific hub mated to an original leather CSL-specific Petri wheel.

Mechanically, it has many NOS D-Jet parts installed while chasing down a past running issue—which ultimately turned out to be the fuel tank lining. That was fully rectified by Panky’s Radiator (the last hot-tank shop in the Bay Area), who hot-tanked and relined the tank. It runs extremely well now and is a wonderful driver.

It’s not a flawless trailer queen, but I’m going into the auction with realistic expectations and a fair reserve set with the current market in mind.

I’ll post the auction link here as soon as things are finalized and the listing goes live. When it does, I’d greatly appreciate a kind word in the BaT comments if you’re so inclined!

Thanks to everyone here for the support and guidance hunting down CSL parts over the years and providing knowledge on these special cars. So many of you have pointed me in the right direction or helped source hard-to-find pieces.

Best,

Tyson

hey Tyson, this car has made a serious turn for the better! great work and hope you get some good results on BaT ... we will be cheering.

Thanks Chris and Scott. Much appreciated. I have to say BaT is quite slow in developing the write-up. Perhaps because car week and all that. Not sure if it's a good time or not but it is what it is...

Thank you @Redrumm3! Much appreciated.

For others, here is the BaT URL. Just went live about an hour ago.

Added to the BAT stoke for you Tyson! Its amazing how far this car has come since I looked at it some time ago. Great work! And good luck mate! Though luck is not needed here :)

Nice pics from the old LOH 'hood. Lived a block away.

Curious, where did the roll-bar go?

GLWS!

That's a great hood. And the weather is only getting better! It was removed. Once we got into it it was easy. Looked like it was designed to come out easily in the future.

Comments by you and Russ have really added provanence to the auction. I see the anchors for lap seatbelts. You might want to add details and pics of the belts that come with the car.

Thanks Drew. I ordered a set of basic laps and they were supposed to be here already but looks like they'll show tomorrow. Appreciated the input. I agree with you re comments by Russ.

Last few hours for the auction folks! Thanks for the positive comments from the forum members. Much appreciated. Let's see where this goes in the next ~3hrs. Hopefully makes my reasonable reserve number and finds a worthy new owner that will pile on the miles and smiles...
