It was a good event, but not what like I experienced in 2016 and 2017 -- my last time there with Bluebelle. The mojo was different and ....
Yes, Car Week has evolved a LOT over the past ten years. It has basically moved on to the next generation who seem primarily interested in newer supercars and to manufacturers who see it as a venue for introducing new models. Fewer people drive their vintage cars to Monterey, so fewer interesting cars are seen on the street and in parking lots. And the events have gotten a lot more crowded, as well as more expensive.
I continue to go each year, and continue to enjoy it, but anyone expecting an experience like they had a decade ago is going to be disappointed.
I heartily recommend the Concours for a Cause, held on the streets of Carmel on Tuesday. It is free to spectators, about $350 for registrants and not very crowded (things are quieter early in the week). The Little Car show in Pacific Grove on Wednesday afternoon is also free to spectators and has a similar vibe.I need to try out Carmel Concours next time
