Hi, I am new to E3 ownership. I bought a 1977 3.0L a few months ago and have started some modifications

Cheers I appreciate the comments. Yeah the rallye is lovely (sadly my mates not mine) that has been a Labour of love for 9 years.

I'd like to suggest you create a build log in the E3 projects section; for most of us in the USA, the 3.3L is quite rare.

I think there's a group of people here who will be interested in watching progress and mods on your project..
 
Thanks for the comments and warm welcome. I will get a build thread going and cover the suspension etc so far. As you have said I am used to VW's where parts are a plenty so this is a new challenge but one thats worth it in my opinion.

the tires look like rubber bands on wheels. i drive a car with 30 series tires everyday ... and i can't think of anything more uncomfortable in a car except that size tire with a racing suspension and solid / poly bushings. i think the 35 series tires on the 911 were comfortable comparably. you gotta like the look, but when you get older, you definitely look for some comfort.

Your quite right they are a small profile. Its certainly not the sofa it was on standard suspension but its not uncomfortable by any means. The look was more the inspiration for me. I use it for work as a treat (M4 daily and the E3 just makes me feel great), I can still have a car full of family in it and I am certainly getting older ..... well in body maybe not in mind !

Wrong picture number one. Looks more like a 50 series tire than a 35 series.

@boodle , so what are/were the specs of the rims (BBS/Mahle, Rial??) and tires? If the picture didn’t show, not the rubber-banded BBS rims.

Hi, sorry the wheels are Rial (Mahle style) 5x120 wheels are no longer required, they were fitted with no issues. the front are 16x8 et 11 with 225/45/16 tyres and the rears are 9x16 et 11 with 245/45/16 tyres.
