Local individual considering putting up CSI engine for sale, in very nice condition. We had a back and forth about value of this engine understanding its a djet setup, not upgraded to megasquirt as it’s currently stock and the work to convert carb to injected is more than just stick in an engine. General interest in this?’

An early e9 head has a value of $100.00
You could consider that it’s a liability rather than an asset

I have not ever heard of anybody installing a Csi D Jet Engine to replace a carburetor engine. Very likely because they’re so few of them. Until recently many of the parts were unobtainable or really expensive that tended to wear out.

Not sure. I don't actually know who the owner of the car is, was bringing my other BMW to the shop and they were upgrading an E9 to 3.5L, which is something I have discussed doing at some point with Don, and so the question of "what does one do with the CSi engine that is removed" came up. It's a bit of a hard one. Anyone with a CSi doesn't necessarily need another engine - probably cheaper to rebuild your own than purchase another one and unless that one has recently been rebuilt you're not gaining much, and if one is going to rebuild the 3.0 CSi engine the question then becomes upgrading to a 3.5L as many others have done. So perhaps an orphan without a home but since neither of us in the conversation had a definitive answer thought the hive mind might have an idea.

I'll probably have a similar question regarding my original-style (but redone at some point in the last 15 years) red leather interior. I'm changing the front seats and since the pleating is changing have to change rears as well, and then since the color is likely slightly different it gets to changing out everything (door cards, etc). I did find another pair of rears to have redone for the new interior so at the end of this I should have a full set of original style fronts and rears and door cards as well as center and rear armrests. Not really sure what that's worth. The leather is in very nice condition as those who have seen it can attest to. I would keep it but I'm not sure under what circumstance I would ever put it BACK into the car, so maybe better to recoup some of my upgrade cost and have someone else end up with it. I've seen these on BaT before, also not sure about that route vs start with forum list, open to suggestions.

Well as you know I wouldn't be in the market for a used e9 interior let alone a CSi engine (at least not now unless I blow up mine in the car after the triple Weber upgrade), but if you have not yet purchased a replacement, give Newark Auto a serious look. I was impressed with their assembly, fitment, and stitching quality but above all else the customer service has been fantastic.
I've posted about it before but they sent me a front seat that didn't have deep enough embossing and the CEO personally worked with my to get it corrected. Plus they made me custom rear head rests as they didn't have the pattern for the "special" ones I have.

I'm just going to keep my numbers matching engine, and when I have nothing else to do I'll juice it up with piano top pistons a new cam, etc. And use it as a sweetener when I eventually sell my coupe
