Ok, hypoid means that the input and output axes do not intersect, i.e. they are offset. In my diff (all our diffs?) the prop enters the diff below the axis of the half shafts, so I'm hypoid!

Ah ok, mine has a u-clamp join where the long straight meets the rear box. All the other joins are missing, clearly! Cheers for the info

Hi Jesus, yes for sure the oil will be drained and replaced. The question in my post was more aimed at confirming the best oil to use for a LSD :)

Looking at exhaust options, I could use an exhaust downpipe (note LHD is different to RHD on this part, as the ex manifold is different). Please let me know if you have one spare, doesn't need to be minty fresh! Thanks :)

Well I might need a plan B. Discovered a large hole in a weld in the straight section, an so am leaning towards replacing the system rather than throw more time and money at a system which has clearly seen better days, and has been chopped about a bit. Think my options are W&N, fritzbits, or...
