    Top cap window seals?

New ones are not the best They are very hard, whereas the original ones, in yellowish-brownish, or silver, are much softer. This allows them to sit much more snug with a bit of glue behind. Beware of left and right side.

Do hood sound absorbers really work ?

Exhaust in mild steel !!! IF you sant the car to run quiter, then use the original exhaust system in mild steel. I have that on serveral cars. And it sounds better at all rpm

Replaced the weatherseals on my side windows... Need advice.

Felt at W&N I have bought them from them in the past. Seemed very new rather than NOS. The trick is to get the squeegee rubber into the rechromed part on top of the door (outside)

    Rhode Island Wiring company

Has anyone used their wiring harness? They have them for the 2800CS only, but that is close enough, esp for the forward harness going from the fuse box into the left side of the engine room. It´s about $1.050 for this section of the harness. I might tidy the current one up instead.....

    A Tale of Two Grills

5 black slats were for the CSL cars and 5 alu slats were for the rest. In late 73/early74 this was changed to 4 slats with a thicker frame, for God knows what reason. These are the ones available today.

    Recommended floor mats?

Coconut mats are good While far from original, they have 2 benefits: they act as sound insulation and they keep the dirt in the mat, quite invisibly. Every now and again, take them out (they are heavy and don´t fold like other mats) and shake and vacuum. The sound insulation is very nice if you...

    Turkis in Munich

Turkis I have one. Sold new in Italy. It is spectacular in all forms of lighting, or dark at night.

What did you do to your E9 today?

Gasket is too small The new, grey gaskets will not fit, as we all seem to agree on. I cut mine at the 6 o´clock position, leaving a small fairly invisible gap. On one car I have the original gasket which isn´t and never was grey. Instead it is skin colour sort of. Perhaps it was transparent in...

    Manual Antenna anyone?

front or rear The Italians put the antenna on the rear left fender, about 2/3 way back along the trunklid. My 2800 CS has it on the A-post (driver´s side) sold in Sweden, and most cars sold in Germany had it on the fender on the driver´s side. Personally I have filled a few antenna holes and...

You know you are a Coupe owner if....

Pillow Your back starts aching because you forgot to put a small pillow behind your back when driving for more than 30 mins. (Why did only CSL cars get comfortable seats??)

    Belt line trim

New manufacturer ? What a pity. A few years ago, they were ok. Not perfect but ok. The front wing ones were a bit too short and the stop piece at the rear of the door piece was too long, preventing the pin from entering the hole in the door. So I had to knock the alu locking piece in the...

    Engine Decal Placement

No stickers in my cars I personally don´t like them, esp those big orange ones talking about original parts. I have just the colour stickers in my cars. Pity that the new colour stickers have a fat white frame, instead of the thin original one. What a miss by the company making them, or the...

    Bosch D Jet part numbers

What parts do you need? I have several CSI cars but while I have replaced lots of other parts on the cars, the FI system seems to just run and run... The cold start valve is the exception. These can seize with age and depending on storage conditions. Which parts of the system is causing you...

What did you do to your E9 today?

Side window alignment I think this is best done by focusing on the rear side windows which can be adjusted in all directions, which is not the case with the door windows. It is a real PITA to get 100%, which I don´t think I can say any of my cars are. With door and rear side window about an...

    Colour codes

I don´t have the information handy, but what is the code for Atlantik vs Nachtblau? Atlantik 041 and Nachtblau 040, perhaps, but am not sure.

Any of these, in very good condition are of interest. Poor mechanics is no problem, but I don´t want to start off by welding or changing body parts.

    Centre Console Correct Assembly

Important wooden part This goes vertically, at the forward end of the 2 side consoles. Best is to mount the 2 metal brackets first. Then put the 2 sides, with the wooden panel attached (and holding them together), so that the upper ends go where they should against the dash board. Mark the...

    Dash lights

4 W lamps are perfect and you don´t need to turn the switch to the full. But I have reverted to 2W for the turn signal lamp, as I find the green light too strong at night. My idea was to see it better in daylight, but the too bright green at night is annoying. Easily accessed with instrument...
