    Front window "U" channel

Interesting as I bought them from W&N at that time. I did however have interesting discussions with them regarding the size, and even sent them a small specimen of the 1988 NOS product. They said they would look into it.... Perhaps I did this 7 years ago and you were lucky to get the newer...

    Front window "U" channel

Incorrect spec from W&N and probably BMW as well. A few years ago, I changed this on a couple of cars. The result was that the windows were even slower in operation esp the top 25% of the distance. It did not help to use a spray, pry open with a screwdriver or simply leave the glass in place...

Who designed the E9? I know Karmann built them

To 61 Porsche One of your reasons for buying was size, and I presume you mean that it is fairly small and neat altogether. I agree entirely, but when I look at it next to an E-type of mine (coupe), the E9 looks colossal. The beauty of the E9 is that it looks very good from any angle. Many...

    Which Panel seals ?

Check this piece The end of the top half of the seal is a 8" solid piece of stiff rubber. It mounts agaist the top of the actual door (but is glued to the top of the A-post), and acts as a joint to the lower part of the door seal. I have noted that when this piece is of the stiff stuff, the...

    Good session on the Autobahn

Keeping the distance The key to safe driving, esp fast driving, is to keep the distance to the car in front of you. I see so many "bad" drivers in all European countries, and being too close to the car in front is cutting the safety margin in a stupid way. Reading possible dangerous situations...

    Good session on the Autobahn

I drove the Nachtblau coupe from CH to Sweden earlier this week. 900 miles in good weather and an amazing 45 min stretch of low traffic on a new section of the Autobahn in southern Germany. 3 lanes of absolutely flat, even road. I was doing between 100 and 120 MPH in a very well sorted car with...

    WTB 60mm tail pipe chrome

W&N or Ebay They come up regularly on Ebay. The problem is the 60mm end pipe...the one from the rear muffler, around the spare wheel bay and to which you attach the chrome bit. I have looked for these for several years. Peder

    Lenght of steering columns

I will keep it manual Drove 900 miles from Switzerland to the S of Sweden wed and thursday. This car is rock solid with all its new parts and some improvements, 250 HP Engine and 2.4 kg/28 psi in the Michelin XWX. I had long stretches of low traffic on a new section of the Autobahn where I was...

    Lenght of steering columns

Thanks Very helpful, as I have a few sitting around. How do you like the change to manual? What wheels/tyres does the car have? I did this last year on a car with stock wheels and Michelin XWX 205/70 and might go back to PS, now that the pump and box are overhauled. The stock equipment is...

    Lenght of steering columns

I have this written down somewhere but cannot find it. How long is it for cars with manual steering box (mainly CLS cars) and how long for cars with PAS? I seem to recall a difference of 90 mm or thereabouts.

Help on how to get roundel grommets on

Do it differently Theoretically you buy the stock fasteners, put them into the holes and then push the emblem into the holes.....BUT I have never managed to succeed. I think the newly manufactured fasteners are a bit too large and narrow. Too large to enter the holes and too narrow for the pins...

coupe spotted in Stockholm. PMansson, is that you?

Yes, that is my car Funny he got the picture, as I only parked it there for about 7 mins while getting something in the grocery store ICA. The picture has lost the true colour punch of Turkis, but this is normal when going from various picture taking devices, computers, internet and then this...

Great sound alternative (no wiring required!)

Different sizes of the Jambox They seem to come in several sizes. I imagine you picked a larger one, as sound will no doubt be better. What is yours, roughly? 20"....

    Reversing lights

Thank you Bert This forum proves to be totally indispensable from time to time. Your suggestion was "bang on". By just fiddling a bit with that fuse like wire connector, near the fuse box, I got the reverse lights to work again. Many thanks, Peder

    Reversing lights

These were unreliable a while ago and are now dead. The wiring on the sender (on the gearbox) are fully fastened. The bulbs are ok. Must be a grounding issue.... But are they not grounded along with all the other light bulbs in the rear light holders?? And they all work. Not the fuse as the...

    Paint Color Sticker

W&N has them, but.... they are reproductions and have that ugly, thick, white frame, instead of the thin, white frame.

    Paint Color Sticker

New stickers regardless of font I am looking for a couple of these stickers, in with different colours printed as per the factory. Thin or thick frame is of less importance, though thin is the original style.

    Drainage question

E9 does not like water You forget Rule #1: Our darling coupes do not like water, be it from the tap or the sky. I stopped cleaning them with a running hose about 8 years ago. Wheels yes, and sometimes lower parts of front fenders/doors, but nothing else.

    ALPINA airbox repro

Metal or "plastic" ? Hi, the original ones look cool, but are far too heavy and not ideal from an air spread aspect. Any pictures of yours?

    CV joints

Imbalance from rear axle Very, very impressive work! Hats off to that. On one of my cars I have, have had, slight imbalance at around 80km/h. I have changed one of the drive shafts and have now sourced another NOS. A bit too early to determine if the imbalance lies in the faulty shafts or...
