'73 CSa FS in New England

Look, in all candor, and as anyone familar with auto-E9s will also attest, the 3spd automatic is hardly "sporty". However, this automatic was completely rebuilt and shifts very assertively/crisp with no hesitation or doubt. Still, it's no close-ratio 5-spd! I don't know what type of rear...

'73 CSa FS in New England

Despite the fact that I can’t wait to receive my new grill badge(s) from JH Jacobs and love looking at the coupe every time I walk through my garage, I have decided to sell 2250587. I simply do not drive her enough to justify ownership. If I keep her, she’ll sit in my garage for another long...

These e28s are really starting to grow on me

I just got my daily serving of Bring-A-Trailer and noticed the Hartge 5. Assuming both cars are comparable in condition, what do you think is more desireable? The Hartge is aparently more rare and has some cool race bits.

    Heavily Modded '02

I snapped this picture today in Plymouth, MA. Taken with an iPhone with about 2 seconds to get the car in focus, so sorry for the quality. Obviously, aside from the sad fact that an otherwise nice roundie was butchered, you have to admire the builder's vision here. From where I stood, it...

Inka 2002 and M1 side by side

Duane, do you know who owned the old 328? was it Wagner's? I was in Wagner BMW in Shrewsbury about 9 months ago and there was this very original '37 or '38 328 (complete with fender skirts). I have a friend very interested in acquiring a 328. So I inquired, but never got a reply. Was...

    GRILL BADGE - 2nd Run Interest Thread - Semi-official

I think white would be the best color for my Fjord coupe, do you think? Definately mark me down for one.

CALLING ALL DEVOUT BMW ENTHUSIASTS (minus murray)

I recently toasted the departure of Chris Bangle at a dinner party. I got blank stares from everyone at the table...and then a 'courtesy laugh' from someone who clearly had no clue why I was so happy. Does that count as "going above and beyond"?

New to E9, considering a project

Jeff, I swear, somebody should write/publish a book on the do's and dont's of converting an E9 to modern FI and 5-spd. I'm talking from mild B35/5-spd swap, to full-on S38 swap and everything in between. Who's done it, what needs to be considered etc. etc. All the information is out there and...

New to E9, considering a project

Jeff, unless money is no object and/or enjoy the process of solving problems and fabricating, the very best advice is to find a previously restored "resto-mod" like the example RonP on the board was selling several months ago. Car probably cost over $120k to build and last I checked it was...

    Wiper Motor Wiring

I'm trying to sort of the wiring plug connections at the screenwiper motor. THe plug had been replaced by the previous owner and I had the motor out during the course of interior restoration this past winter. I have the blue books and have also searched for threads on the subject and think I...

Need your advice about how should i solve this ...

Jhjacobs and others are right regarding lots and lots of clamps to create EVEN pressure. I used a very strong construction adhesive called "Liquid Nails Professional". I also made sure the inside of the metal backing (where it meats the back of the foam panel) was very clean of loose (old)...

    Other opinions on E9 resto-mods.....

It seems as though the rest of the car enthusiast world has has a healthy distaste for poorly executed resto-modified E9s. Read the comment thread from Bring-A-Trailer on this E9. http://bringatrailer.com/2009/07/08/1975-bmw-csi-with-a-twist/#comments Apologies in advance if the owner is...

    RHD Carpet Sets

Klaus Hermann Miller (KHM) in Germany I don't have the contact info handy, but 'Google' the name and you'll find them. I would have used them for my carpet, but opted for something this side of the pond (World Upholstery in CA). Good luck

    Pre-purchase opinion

I don't think 130k is necessarily high for a well-maintained coupe that is 35+ years old - IMHO. I'd rather own a clean, straight 130k-mile coupe than a rusted coupe w/ 40k. Mechanical parts are cheap (relative to the trim and other bits). Focus on the body, trim and interior.

Anyone know this coupe - huge mods and for sale

is the seller on this board? Assuming the build was done properly, what a nicely done resto-mod! Very curious to see what the seller's expectations are and if/what it eventually sells. One must assume that anybody that takes the time and money to source and rebuild an S38 and stuff it...

    window motors...

corroded brushes, I guess? liberally spray the brushes and shaft with electronic parts cleaner found at any hardware store. I forgot to mention another common problem.....the tiny springs that push the brushes up against the rotor sometimes rust out and break. the brushes need to make...
