    Audio

FYI...... http://www.e9coupe.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5447 this is what I'd have started with if I were going the concours route with the restoration. Or was the correct radio have been a Becker? (Europa) I always get confused between Porsches and BMW of that era. Either way, this...

    Blaupunkt Frankfurt

Not mine, but it popped up on my eBay watch list today. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160343780134&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3ASS%3AUS%3A1123

    window motors...

Actually, I would not take the motors apart in place unless you're convinced they're dead. You'll probably lose a tiny screw in the body panel. Also, these motors are very simple and the only thing I could imagine that would make them unsalvagable would be a broken or rotted braided wire that...

    window motors...

I had the same problem with the later motors in my '73. Both were frozen /non-oper. because of stuck brushes. If you take the wires off the black plastic cover slides down away from the gear head exposing the stator and magnets. the flared-out (top) of the black plastic is brittle and may...

    Audio

Yes, that would work well too depending upon the depth of your speakers and size of the magnets. There wouldn't be the need for the speaker boxes and your rear passengers would have a bit more room. Definately apply the Dynamat to all surfaces in the "box" so there will be maximum sound...

    WOW?!

Thanks for the synopsis! very diplomatic, yet candid - thanks! I looked at a similar Euro E9 csi in Connecticut a few years ago with very similar results. Seller was up front, but the pictures definately don't show all the hair. I was hoping for a nice space euro motor and euro trim bits, but...

    Audio

SHIMBIMMER, A good friend of mine is also a truly talented audio guy and had similar suggestions. He also wanted me to hack up the rear parcel shelf and stick 2" tweets in the A-Column interior (ludicrous suggestions IMO). so I quietly diregarded most of his advise and went with a...

Dash and other Wood Ttrim Dilemma

Roh-Jay, Don't know what your time or budget restrictions may be, but I refinished my wood veneer myself. Very tedious and time-consuming, but it can be done. Excluding the cost of your time (if you're doing it yourself), you could probably re-veneer your wood and even fabricate some new...

    WOW?!

either this car is badly rusted or the market really sucks right now. I suspect maybe a little of both. I'd have bought this car just to have a spare coupe to drive in the rain at this price. Good starter E9 for someone who want to actually enjoy tooling around town rather than sweating...

    Fire Extinguisher Mount

horizontally, below passenger seat (in front). Self-drilling SS screws anchored to the upright section of the seat bracket (NOT FLOOR). fits nicely, is within quick access and is barely visible. Extinguisher will do little good if it's in the trunk and there is a fire around the gas...

    4 different colours

It's always cool to see US muscle cars crusing the European roads. Is it rare to have a gathering with muscle cars in Vienna? Are they generally well received by the viewing audience. I've always had this theory that american muscle cars are rare in Europe because the domestic (Euro)...

    Saw this '73 on Ebay:

Why are chrome wheels all the rage in CA? (especially SoCal) All this car needs is a disco ball hanging from the mirror and maybe a some crazy gaming console and stereo stuffed in the trunk to qualify for an episide of "livin' the low life" on SpeedChannel.

    Saw this '73 on Ebay:

I did the same on my '73. Much better look OMO. No harm done for the purists becasue I saved the NLA (one year only) front brackets. Also switched to pre-73 rubber bumper over-riders. It's a fairly common mod in the E9 world and gernerally acceptable.

    Heritage Museum-Sandwich, MA 6/14

I just learned that the Heritage Museum in Sandwich, MA is hosting a combined British & German car exhibit this Sunday. Sounds very similar to the German Car Day at Larz Anderson event that will be held next weekend (Father's Day). I'm bringing the coupe and some P-Car buddies will be...

    Power steering faulty

Metalic particles? that is never a good sign! Could be anything of course, but I'd immediately look at the steering box as the culprit. You say the pump is pushing fluid, so I'd leave that alone for now (and don't keep running the pump with debris in the system - you'll only chew up the vanes...
