Only CSL factory Rally Car - Griot’s cover car

No worries at all, I completely understand, I to am tired of inaccurate info and so called "internet authorities", so if you did not know, yours was a reasonable statement. But the net is the net and these things stay somewhere up there in the clouds - I know not where - therefore if you don't...

Only CSL factory Rally Car - Griot’s cover car

They are not "calling it" the only BMW factory/works Rally CSL, I am doing so, as are the mechanics who worked in Motorsport when it started in 72 and the mechanics who worked exclusively for the Rallye department, oh yeah and the drivers who drove it.

    Restore or Scrap

+2 Part it. There is also an emotional angle if I may, bit like an organ donor. You will have saved the car you remember and donated to allow others to live. P.S. dibs on center consul side panels for me or the whole consul if easier :)

Oh there is a few signatures I could suggest should have been in included. And yes on the PS

    Munich evolution

Hi John Yes, sadly some piece of scum came in the building and it was obviously a targeted theft, as they went straight for the guitar and while they also stole the Pebble Beach trophy, I have to believe, that was just shiny object they saw on the way out the window, maybe thought because it...

Niki Lauda drives his ‘old’ 3.0 CSL

Would love to see the picture you mention. There was a Schnitzer car found in Peter Briggs collection in the Perth area about this time, that car was returned to the UK and was restored to its Schnitzer livery. I have a dusty old picture of my Schnitzer in beautiful Jagermeister Gp5 livery...

Niki Lauda drives his ‘old’ 3.0 CSL

To quote Monty Python, the actual Lauda car is no more, it has ceased to be, bereft of life, it rests in peace I have sat and had dinner with Eckhard Schimpf, who was in charge of Jagermeisters Motorsport sponsorship for 30 years, I have also visited his amazing collection of Jagermeister...

Taiga Batmobile at RM Amelia Island

Hi Tightbox, Not worries at all, apolgese not needed, I just wanted to be clear - yes, would have been great to say hello. It's so hard with these events, we could have been within a few feet of each other, but unless we know what we look like, just doesn't happen. In fact, that is exactly...

Taiga Batmobile at RM Amelia Island

Hi Scott, I only made my comments to try and make people aware this car was in no way indicative of what a good CSL is and in turn the overly enthusiastic words that have been written about it. I see somebody above mentions my seeing it years ago - that is incorrect, I had it inspected in the...

Taiga Batmobile at RM Amelia Island

Yes, exactly Sandhu. I am guessing you talked with the people at Four Star Classic at the time - I got the same spiel as you sir :)

Taiga Batmobile at RM Amelia Island

This car was never a concourse car and I doubt has ever been since it left the showroom floor. I had it inspected about 12 years ago when for sale in the UK and as I mentioned it was a cheaply done resto then, that has now not aged well. I understand all owners of this car have kept it well,or...

Taiga Batmobile at RM Amelia Island

It was a fair price for that car particular car. Really, really badly restored many years ago and not only showing signs of a cheap restoration, but so much of it done incorrectly, dare I say you would have to start again. Certainly hope the new owner does it, the car deserves to be properly...

Taiga Batmobile at RM Amelia Island

Hi Chris and guys, Yes, lots of small things here incorrect, some already named and not that hard to correct if only somebody would give it some love. I always find it so sad that this car has continued with the reproduction first series Bat rear wing and that 4 bar grill, a second series...

    Homologation CSLs?

Mal, I would not take any notice of this write up, yes it has a couple of things right, but it is filled with bad information. Just as one example I personally have in my collection three of the first 169 carb CSL's all built well before the claimed start date of Dec 71. This is the work of...

    74 Golf 3.5 CSL Bat @ 2021 Audrain Concours

Thank you Markos, yes, all mine are CSLs and then that one 2800CS was a Schnitzer car from new, ran with pretty much most of the Schnitzer drivers in the 71/72/73 period, won at Zandvoort in 71 and Spa in 72 (Jacky Ickx). Then was turned into a CSL specification and was Walter Bruns Magic...

    74 Golf 3.5 CSL Bat @ 2021 Audrain Concours

I know what you call somebody with seven - just plain greedy :) Although, I do have mitigating circumstances or is it just a collectors rationale/excuse to convince himself and his loved ones ? :) Either way, I have my excuse for my craziness at the ready :D

Euro 1973 BMW 3.0CSi 5-Speed NMNA on BaT

Sorry to but in, but chassis is what truly matters on a car, any car. What engine it has doesn't stop it being what it is, a Shelby GT 350 with any engine or even no engine, is and will always be a Shelby GT 350, it may not be original, it may not be correct, but even an empty shell of a GT 350...

    74 Golf 3.5 CSL Bat @ 2021 Audrain Concours

Hi Keshav, I don't know this car or the owner and I hope I am not being rude, as I never want or intend to be. Some very strange comments from the owner here, many of them not factual, either about a CSL or this actual car. It looks a lovely car sitting on the grass and best wishes to the...

Opinions request from members, particularly CSL owners

Sounds like a good idea @Keshav. While not on here as much as many, when I do I look, I look at classified and at the Whats New section, which basically covers my general interest and would therefore cover any crossover between CS, CSI and CSL. I agree with @Markos Classified should stay as...
