    71 2800 CS throwout bearing

I'm sure there's diagrams out there but it would be the basics. 1:1 gearing (4th gear in this case) goes straight through the gearbox. All other gears are routed through the lay shaft. Lay shaft bearings seem to make noise more often than the main shaft bearings on the boxes I've had.

    71 2800 CS throwout bearing

Wow, the "clutch engaged" term has been misused about ten times in this thread. Let's start over... 1) the noise occurs AT IDLE. This has to be the TO bearing or pilot bearing. They work in tandem, and if the car is not moving and the engine is running they are in use. 2) noise goes...

He's saying the noise disappears when the clutch is engaged, not the clutch pedal engaged. Sounds like the throw out bearing.

When you're dealing with the CA DMV there are no bad assumptions. :)

But 2800cs' don't have to have a federal sticker since they were sold here. CSi's are grey market cars and taboo in CA.

Where did you drive your coupe today?

Shamrock Rally in Sacramento on Saturday with @BarryG in his coupe and @RichenFamous in his E3 and about 25 other cars. Fun day. Rich drove that E3 like it's supposed to be driven, it was great to see. I only took one photo and it didn't have our cars in it. LOL

    Leno’s Law

“California’s smog check laws for classic cars need to be updated—they vary too much from state to state, and California’s rules don’t match up with neighboring ones.” Since when does CA care about what other states do? I have very little faith that this would pass. It might have a chance...

Pierburg pump - yay or nay?

If you're putting Webers on an electric pump is nice to have since Webers will need priming if they sit for any length of time.

Anyone have an Apple laptop they'd sell?

My daughter needs one for her DJing. She's had an older one for several years that's worked flawlessly but it's shown signs of age lately. Let me know if you have anything or any suggestions. Dan
