    Zenith carb - connections

Here's a start: Chokes are water and electric. The electric starts from the rear carb, green wire, small wiring harness on the other tab to the cold start enhancement ( silver aluminum cover box on the booster side) to the fuel start solenoid loops to the front carb same sequence. ( won't...

    Zeniths wanted

Stuck means rusted. Not unknown for any carb. Try tapping both sides of the shaft at once with a wood dowel, etc. On the theory that what goes up must come down, dissassemble and tap the shaft back out (gently). Clean the shaft with sandpaper, etc. and reassemble. That's what a carb shop...

Engine ID Help - 72' Bav

nosediving is another symtom of your engine is not getting spark or the fuel mixture is going off. First, check your points- looking for dwell. A bog could mean your points need adjusted. Over time, your timing goes retarded or out of range and the engine lurches as the spark goes away just as...

    What else can I check-engine won't rev past 5k

If your advance diaphragm is holding. The chances are it's ok. Phenolic sheet is available. But there are Bosch distributer specialists here. try one of them. Or just use epoxy to fix yours if it's not disintegrated. DQ? I bet has has some to spare. Move the distributer to where the factory...

    Weber running lean

the shaft is tweaked causing the rear carb barrel to be more open. Tweak it back. ( Get two wrenches , hold one side of the shaft , etc.) Common ailment back in the day and how you balance a Porsche that originally came with carbs. (356, 912, early 911). You'll never get the jets right until...

    What else can I check-engine won't rev past 5k

Pull your distributer cap and see if the rotor is pointing at a scribe mark on the rim of the distributer body. Cam wheel bolt lines up with center of boss. Unless you indexed the cam and know for vey certain what that mark means.

    What else can I check-engine won't rev past 5k

Find the distributer markings on the side and report back which one of possible 6 distributers that I know of. The end numbers are what I look for- 001 or 005 which equals an advance curve and they aren't the same. There were euro, US, emissions, etc. So they aren't all the same if we're going...

    What else can I check-engine won't rev past 5k

dwell is the first thing to check with a meter not a feeler guage. If the point gap is not correct, no amount of timing will fix it. Is the timing steady? Meaning does the ball in the timing window to pointer stay steady? Many people report changing advance vacuum from ported ( carb) to...

75 csi still running horribly NEED HELP

assuming L jet, 35 psi. Go put in a new fuse as they get corroded. Worth a shot. get the pressure up first. At 30 all sorts of things get wonky. Low impedance injectors equals low voltage. 4v. Polarity shouldn't matter. If some are firing and some are not a simple resistance check...

    What else can I check-engine won't rev past 5k

rotors come in two varieties. One is curved or hooked and has a limiting feature. Not surprisingly, that one cuts the spark at somewhere near where you're referring to in the rpm range. Throw that one away. The other is a T shape, no limiter. Parts guys will sell you anything sometimes...

    What else can I check-engine won't rev past 5k

There are marks on the damper and a pointer cast in the front lower cover. You can see them from the top once you know what to look for. Shine a light from under and find the one on the damper marked "O". With a 36mm socket on the crank nut you can turn the crank. Look up from below the...

    What else can I check-engine won't rev past 5k

timing basics means checking the damper and the pointer on the front case, then seeing which mark is in the timing window at TDC. If that's good, then pop the cap and check for the relationship of the rotor to number one wire/ post. If that's off, then reset it. A common mistake for new...

    Confucius Say....Carbs--WTF???

Your off choke idle may be lean by what you're describing. Several suggestions: 1. Determine which carb or both. On top of the first cover near the primary throat is the idle air opeing to the idle air jet. Closing that hole will enrich the mixture. In doing so, the engine will speed up...

Source for German old style hose clamps?

Still kicking... gathering new parts. On your hole for the sync caps- 1,5/8" (will work for up to 40s. 39mm I think) Should be fine for 32/ 36. That's what I did for mine. One more trick on Zeniths from Mercedes- the plastic linkage with the wheel is how you set independent idles. Better...
