    AC bracket bushings

Devinder did a repair piece that's posted in the links section above near the bottom section for fixing the a/c bracket. I did it a few years ago. I bought the lower nylon bushes at the local hardware store. Had to do a bit of fitting, nothing hard though.

help to choose my new carpet

432 is what I have with blue cards and silver blue leather. Perhaps it's the fact that the photos shows the sample in a better/ brighter light than in practice on the floor where it will be a bit darker unless in direct sun. As far as wear, it has done well, which a lighter color may not as...

    Zenith balance

Stumble at cruising would indicate that DQ was closing in a possible solution. It is true that this can be ignition related by timing, A simple twist of the distributer would tell. The tach might act up also. Perhaps a check of the coil is in order also if weak. Next would be fuel. Sluggish...

    most common cause of backfire?

Filters of the type shown in the foto have been known to be restrictive. If plastic, can be a fire hazard. The height of the filter/ supply is abnormal. Usually, near the manifold. The pump works harder under some conditions and can back siphon under others. I would suggest a different...

    Peculiar stalling problem

Internal fuel pump check valve not holding allowing fuel to drain back to the tank is one possibility. Can actually drain a carb if your inlet valves are a bit leaky. A cheap fix is a marine check valve for an outboard motor.

    Strange power loss

Worthwhile To check your float level for full opening. There is a measurement depending upon plastic or brass. But it could be possible that the engine is just leaning out at speed due to the float not opening far enough and being fuel starved yet not pump related.

Is my engine really at TDC?

It's not the measurement Of the clearance in the bore. Measure form the plate surface to the throttle plate. Assuming a nominal butterfly plate thickness of.06, the plate would be .02 above the surface or two thirds closed. The plate is not open, only sufficient to not stick.

Popped the...

Is my engine really at TDC?

mmmm Distributer timing is at camshaft speed= 2 times crank speed. Don't time at 3500 from your earlier post. Go back and time at 1700 rpm+- 50. That's when all your mechanical advance should be in. An 008 distributer is a BMW replacement for a 02 Ti. How you got that with a 6cylinder cam...

help-just broke down and car won't start!

Temporary fouled plugs caused by excess fuel( rich) caused by incorrect timing ( late or retarded)? Hot engine, manifolds, perculation? Basically the engine got flooded same as if you choked it too much. Watch those upshifts and keep the rpms up.

help-just broke down and car won't start!

Steve, Running a vacuum advance distributer still? Triples need more advance at idle but still all in timing must remain the same. That means a mechanical advance distributer. No getting around it. Throw in an MSD that will increase spark duration for some measure of insurance. That's...
