Part help - metal fuel line "pads"

I'd had exactly the same thought. I came across an inner tube whilst hunting in my garage for some teflon sheet. I think the genuine pads are made of teflon, feels like teflon anyway. Same stuff as in the sliding brake calipers on mk2 golfs!

The end for my rally E9 ?

That's a shocker. Is there any prospect of this perverse decision being reversed in the future?

Part help - metal fuel line "pads"

Hi Simon, the metal fuel lines look good, no sign of any rust. Pleasing, as I had a metal line rust through on my E24. I've taken the whole fuel system out of the engine bay now, will be replacing the rubber. Injectors are going to a Bosch service place on Monday, so I should know if I need any...

Part help - metal fuel line "pads"

Hi all, need some help. I needed to undo a few of the metal tabs which secure the metal fuel lines running under the floorpan, to get to the last two jubilee clips in the engine bay. There is a small plastic "pad" wrapped around the fuel line where the metal tabs secure the fuel line. I can't...

Hi Bert, I might have one, from a non AC rhd E12 based 6er, I think. I can dig it out if you might be interested.

    CSL fuel system

Sold! Off to a zinc plater tomorrow with my bag of bits, I've listed it all out, just hope I can remember which fasteners go where... For the rubber fuel lines running up from the hard fuel lines, up to the d-jet fuel rail (via the filter) and returning from the pressure regulator, what's the...

Need advice. how to check compression, procedure details

for compression testing, you want to get as much air flowing (and compressing) as possible, so keep the throttle wide open so the "suck" is not just drawing a vacuum. I keep turning the engine until the needle on the gauge is stable(ish). Important to be consistent with this on all 6 cylinders...

    CSL fuel system

I've stripped down the fuel system in the engine bay (I've previously done the pipes, seals and clips on the tank, and will look at the pump, the metal fuel lines and associated hoses once I've tackled the engine bay) I now have some injectors (which look fine except for some surface corrosion...

    Fuel injectors access

yes, I was trying to cut corners and only remove the bare minimum of the intake. But it does need the whole of the intake (except the manifold itself) off to get enough access. Injectors out, pipework out. Looking quite crusty!! Will start a thread in the projects forum, looking for advice to...

    Fuel injectors access

Hi and happy new year, here's hoping 2020 is good to us all Looking to refurb the (d-jet) engine bay fuel system over the winter. To remove the injectors and the fuel rails, am I best to remove the throttle body, leaving the inlet manifold and runners in place, or would it be better to remove...

    Pebra Re-key

I don't know of anyone who does this as a service, however I think a key-cutting place would know if any company does this. It's not a bad DIY though. Spread out a big sheet of white paper or card, to spot the errant springs etc. as they fly off

Opening steering lock up, no key

I stripped the parts I needed, with a modest degree of violence. Apologies to posterity, but it's beyond re-use

Do UK RHD cars have H1 headlamps for both dipped and main beam?

I put HID bulbs in my E24's factory lights, result was terrible. Things may have advanced tech wise since then, but I very quickly went back to traditional halogens, and wouldn't look to repeat the experience Main issue was no peripheral light, beam pattern was almost all ahead of the car, to...

    Boot/trunk lock

That's very bad. You can buy a new boot lock, as above W&N have them. Jaymic might also, not sure. Anyway, that's the easy bit. It's possible to re-jig the pins in the lock to match, and I've just done it myself. Fiddly, very fiddly o_O The lock opens up with two circlips, and there's 6 lock...

Opening steering lock up, no key

I had some success over the weekend. With the spare tumblers harvested from the ebay lock, I have re-keyed by boot lock to work off the same key as the driver's door and ignition. Still to tackle the passenger's door and (if I'm feeling keen) the glove box. :) couple of questions: where to buy...

Opening steering lock up, no key

I have bought an eBay steering lock barrel, with no key. My intent is to open it up and use the lock's tumblers to re-key my car's door locks, to get the car working on a single key for the first time in a long time. My question is, how to open up this steering lock barrel to extract the parts I...

wiper position problem- can someone help?

First up you need to adjust the arm/linkage as it sits on the motor spindle, you need to get that assembly all in a straight line. Once you've done that your wiper arms will probably be sitting way too low, but they're now at their furthest (lowest) travel. Then undo the lock nuts on the wipers...

    Aux Air Valve

This is a video I found when I was looking at options. To be clear, I didn't actually try this DIY as the bulb pinch method appears to have done the biz. I don't know if the BMW AAV comes apart in the same way as this MB one. Video credit to Spudnuts of Benzworld, thanks for sharing...

    Aux Air Valve

Hi Don, yes I did reach out to Carl on a rebuilt AAV. I suspect the import duty to the UK would be the killer. I'll see how I go with my crimped AAV. I did also reach out to Bosch Classic re their part no. F 026 T03 038, which is a replacement stat bulb for Bosch AAVs Bosch were adamant that...
