    Blowing exhaust

Well I might need a plan B. Discovered a large hole in a weld in the straight section, an so am leaning towards replacing the system rather than throw more time and money at a system which has clearly seen better days, and has been chopped about a bit. Think my options are W&N, fritzbits, or...

    Blowing exhaust

Here's the tailpipe after a wire wheel, a bit of coarse grade wet and dry and a scrub up in soapy water. Next is a wrap with some rust converter paste, then some paint to finish I think. What colour paint do you think, options appear to be black (matt, satin or gloss), silver or graphite...

How can you tell 14x7 Alpina Rims

Ah yes, I was ignoring the random 5th wheel, as an odd one out, and not priced in the £1850. The seller seems to think the tyres are worth something also, hohoho! If they're a matched set of date stamps, I think 1200-1400 might be ok?

    Blowing exhaust

Just about perfect....in my opinion!! (You can't hear the rust) Though the noise levels have been commented on, a nice straight six raspy howl above 3500pm, best driven with the rear windows open, for full effect :)

How can you tell 14x7 Alpina Rims

Thought the FPS wheels were all 10 hole?

How can you tell 14x7 Alpina Rims

There's a set on uk eBay right now, been hanging around for ages. I've not contacted the seller, so can't vouch for originality or anything, but there's plenty of expertise on here to check them out. It was the price that put me off, as they're not factory fresh and need work...

    Blowing exhaust

Dropped the exhaust today; the winter project is to fix the blow (MOT failure) and tidy it all up. As you can see, the front silencer and the small mid box have both been deleted and it now has a straight pipe to the large rear silencer. As you can also see the whole system except the rear...

    What engine ?

...and E12 M535 also, though that again might be a Europe only thing. An M90 has the same 3453 displacement as the 24 valve M88 engine (same block?) and has a few other differences from the 3430cc M30B34 which superseded it in the E24. Has a reputation for having a bit more grunt than the M30...

Im i doing the right thing?

Think you could make a nice sideline putting those images on mugs and selling them... o_O To the OP, I wouldn't worry too much about changing colour. Fjord is a lovely blue, one of my faves. Golf would be my personal no.1

    Euro Headlights

this is quite a thread resurrection! But I will just say that, even though I'm on the wrong side of the pond, Daniel Stern has ben my go to person for lighting advice for 15 years now. He advised me to upgrade the factory euro (RHD) lights on my E24 to Cibie CSR units. These same lights are now...

    Help with plumbing

Yes, your proposed plumbing looks correct all round. On routing, the hose from 1 to 2 comes up between the two stub inlet manifolds. And the hose from 3 to 4 goes around the rear of the manifold, under the oil pressure sender/switch

    CO2 emissions g/km?

What the chuff has Greta Thunberg got to do with Portuguese policies on importing cars?! I sympathise with Willem's dilemma, but I think the issue is not the EU bureaucracy making up arbitrary rules here, more the lack of reciprocal arrangements between Portuguese and Swiss governments. I don't...

    911 prices vs. e9 pricing

    What is this for?

Don't suppose you kept the charcoal canister and pipes did you? Would be interested in a retro of this on my car

Missing key hole ‘flap’ on door lock.

Once you get the circlips out and the lock barrel itself is free, there are two metal plates which hold the springs and tumblers in the barrel. Go easy when removing the metal plates, catch the springs and carefully take the tumblers out, one at a time if possible

Missing key hole ‘flap’ on door lock.

If the bits are there and still in one piece then it's fixable, but not easy. The cover piece is not attached by a hinge, but is only held in place by the spring that holds it shut. If you disassemble the lock it is possible to rebuild with spring and cover in place. But it might be the spring...

    911 prices vs. e9 pricing

Pah, I was just about to agree with everything you said, as usual, and then you start dissing my E38 o_O . I did have to look hard, but here is a nice 7er, albeit one that is parked in a vegetable patch! Back on topic, I think 911s have come off the boil a bit over the past few years, on this...

Calling all you owners with spoilers

Your car looks awesome, I wouldn't sweat it. My car has the spoiler. Not sure it was fitted in the factory, but was defo on the car by the early 80s. It does look to fit flush all the way across, but on closer inspection it's not hugely tidy! Let me know if you want any more shots, but as I...

    Gauges?

Some info on my install. Gauges are from any old 90s Audi, cheap on eBay if you can cope with orange needles Oil pressure sender is VDO part 360081030008C, which has an electro-mechanical pressure sender and a 0.5 bar low pressure warning switch. It has the correct M12x1.5mm thread to be a...
