Manual to Power Window Conversion – Worth It?

Here's one of those threads that I picked totally at random: https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/a-few-tips-on-installing-e28-window-motors.27320/

Gauging interest / A Dedicated Headlamp Harness with Fuses and Relays / Concept / Demand ?

Man, you're really complicating this problem! There are already wires running from the console switches to the door and rear seat area. Yes, those wires and the switches are undersized for carrying the full current of the motors, but despite any corrosion on their connectors, they can easily...

looking for an arm rest component

My old Bavaria (sadly, now gone) had a piece of bent 3/4" wide strap steel, bent into a "Z" shape, linking the pull to the door. My mother-in-law (who sadly, is now also gone) got into the car and figured that since it was an old car, she really needed to give an door a good yank. And, she did!

Gauging interest / A Dedicated Headlamp Harness with Fuses and Relays / Concept / Demand ?

There is another small company - this one is a one-man operation - making such a product for Alfa Romeo Montreals. See: https://www.alfabb.com/threads/power-windows.722476/#replies I know Gene Brown personally, and he's a straight-up guy. The connectors on his module are plug-in for the...

    Gravity changes?

... or the Santa Cruz Mystery Spot? Hmm - more likely, your parking brake shoes have just worn to the point where they no longer drag a bit.

Gauging interest / A Dedicated Headlamp Harness with Fuses and Relays / Concept / Demand ?

Paul: Well, it ain't quite that bad; there is a relay in the high beam circuit, but not one for the low beams. And, the high beam relay (and the adjacent horn relay) does get its power directly from the battery. While the low-beam doesn't have a relay, power to the low beam switch is fused...

E3's for Sale in the USA (edited title 20250917)

Looks nicer than the black one that was RNM on BaT last week (I think bidding stalled in the high teens on that one). But will this eBay e3 bring the $33,333 that the seller has suggested? Seems doubtful. Still, you couldn't professionally duplicate the work that has gone into this one for...

    WTB Floor Mats

I installed CocoMats in my e9 a couple of years ago and am pleased with them. I made some adjustments to CocoMats' standard patterns for the front mats; I felt they were too short on the passenger side, and had overly large cut-outs around the pedal area on the drivers side. But I'm sure their...

    Off Gassing

As Barry sorta asked: what are you smelling? Fuel? Adhesive? Paint? If it is strongest in the trunk and under the hood, then I would guess fuel. But it would be odd to have two fuel leaks, one at each end of the car. Carburetors allow a lot more fuel to evaporate than does fuel injection...

    2800 badge

It surprises me that some additive manufacturing shop isn't re-making the "2800" badges.

    Heater cable clamp

Yes, I had that issue with their site as well. I sent an email to their customer service department, detailing what parts I needed, and they replied promptly. When I did this a few weeks ago, I was informed that most of the parts I needed were not in stock, so I didn't end up placing an order...

    WTB E3 Metal Headlight Surrounds

Chris: My "On a white or polaris car, perhaps not so much" remark certainly wasn't intended to call your baby ugly. You and Steve have different objectives: - Your 2800 is very original, so regardless of the car's body color, the silver side grilles are essential to preserving that...

    WTB E3 Metal Headlight Surrounds

Many cars have a fully chromed grille extending across the whole front end. If your e3 is painted in a darker color (like the one in your avatar) I would think that a silver grill would look sharp. On a white or polaris car, perhaps not so much. Still, purists might criticize them as...

Nor are your black sunvisors; they should be covered with the same white material as the headliner.

WTB - drivers side e9 turn signal base

Don't worry about the original wiring and socket. You can do the modification recommended in this thread: https://e9coupe.com/forum/threads/turn-signal-fixtures-repair-for-light-sockets.22051/ and end up with a more reliable solution.

OEM rubber or close to it for the Euro e9 bumpers? The rubber only...

Chris: To ask an absolutely novice question: how do you do that? Walk into any BMW dealer and ask for part number XXXXX? If so, are there better/worse dealers here in Orange County for this? Or, must vintage parts be ordered online through some BMW site? Thanks Jay

Questions about chrome trim at top of door

Thank you for clarifying that 51211803685 is the correct clip. I agree that holding the front door top chrome trim with those clips is not a great solution, and that the attachment of the corresponding piece at the rear is more elegant. But I am not about to re-engineer this. I live in a dry...

Questions about chrome trim at top of door

When you say "they work", are you saying: 1) That part 51211803685 is not the correct clip to hold the chrome trim to the top of the door, but that it will work? OR 2) That part 51211803685 is the correct clip, but it scratches the paint (where you can't see it)? Either way, I can't see that...

The door is not closing completely

I think you are saying that it will click into the third, or "fully locked" position. But once it's there, you can easily move it back to the second, or "partially locked" position. That sounds like your problem. Lubrication inside the door might help that, since it sounds like a latch isn't...
