Thanks. It looks good from this distance in a dim garage. It's juuuust scruffy enough, with 149k miles, to look at some serious changes. Unlike the coupe, I will NOT be changing the color. Learned my lesson there.
Hi, all. Since selling my E9 on BaT in August, I had an opportunity to, uh, reinvest. Here's what's next: 1990 964 C2. Best of all, it's galvanized! I'll miss the old girl, but this one has some trophy potential.
Sinister. Almost look like B&W photos. Are the lenses tinted, or the hue is just dialed down on the photos?
And a CS with CSi badging? I look forward to the BaT commentary on that discrepancy.
As noble and helpful as this idea sounds, BaT will go to any length to not offer an opinion on a vehicle that they could be held accountable for, including hiring/sponsoring/promoting individual experts.
Man, I had a visceral reaction to seeing the lift points they chose. Glad someone commented on it. And Don covered the two-tone silver/brown colors. That undercoating looks like it could ignite from the exhaust at any moment.
Yeah, as we've discussed before, the color change to non-(cool)-70s color definitely puts a lot of potential buyers on the sidelines. I remember making that choice away from the original Nachtblau, thinking "Well, how much could this possibly hurt me if I ever sell it?" Ahem.
$22k more than two years ago. I think it was pretty realistic, TBH. No complaints from me. I'll certainly be directing the new owner to the forum here.
For everyone's sake, I'm hoping the same! There aren't too many more stops I can pull out...
We'll have to have another BaT experience retrospective post-sale.
See you on the other side, and thanks to all who commented in support (or bit their tongues)!
Ha. I think the WerkShop used tongue depressors or kids' fingers to put that sealer on. It looks worse in the pictures than IRL, but still. And that wasn't the PO; that was under my/their "watch." All the restoration was at my direction, so if there's anything wonky...that's directly or...
Those wheels are getting some love in the auction comments. They're holding up well! They do present very well when when polished up--I had the center mesh painted in a dolphin gray (IIRC an Audi B6 shade), which gives them some subtle contrast in the center versus a silver.

Looks like my auction just went live. Let’s hope the second time (and some Avant Garde) is the charm.
I’ve already messaged a couple of Portlanders on the forum that the car is nearby. If any other PNW locals would like to see it just to...
That's quirky enough that it might gets some mileage (pun intended) on Cars & Bids. The DeMuro crowd has a sense of humor that BaT never will. Just a thought.
On the other hand, it's also something you'd expect to see on your local Craigslist, if you can tolerate the randos.
