Intro & (perhaps) returning to an E9?

I had a chuckle when I read this. My wife keeps up on my hobbies (to a point). She does so, not for her enjoyment, but for 'knowing who to call' for when would be time to dispose of all my stuff. She actually had me give her the contact info on everyone she should talk to with for dealing with...

    Opinion needed: 2001 E38 740i "Shorty" - thoughts?

I don't mind the 6's in the E39 either. And... with the car I have now getting high in mileage, will be looking at them as well. This one look nice - but who knows.... https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-bmw-530i-59/

    Opinion needed: 2001 E38 740i "Shorty" - thoughts?

On a side note - Here is a pic of my first E38. It was earlier bought by a friend of mine from a local BMW dealership (as a used car) knowing it had failed the leakdown test so it would get a new short block. It was a first year E38 (1995) 740i (short), so no 'sport' package was available at...

    Opinion needed: 2001 E38 740i "Shorty" - thoughts?

I have about 500,000 miles in two E38's. I love them. They are truly the best car you can drive and soak the miles up in, but they are not without their issues. Originally, the M60 motors (back in the day) had the nikasil issue. There is plenty of info out there on that - I'd get familiar...

    123 Distributor failures from oil?

I also use those plugs. I find them available in some of the regular places. Just have to search for them under the NGK stock # - which in this case is 7734 for BPR5ES. For example - Rock Auto has them... just do a search for NGK 7734 (BPR5ES) or 7832 (BP5ES). Both on RockAuto.com Here is a...

    Replacement Alternator

That's a whole lot of amps... 240A.... I guess if the battery and associated wiring (and belt drive) are sized accordingly - should be ok for going up to that kind of power....

    Replacement Alternator

This is their way of telling you they don't want to work on your car. I'd take their advice and find someone else to do so.

    Feed back on CarBlast?

There is the factor of getting the chassis to them - and back - from in the US (or anywhere else for that matter).

    2002tii on BaT.....

Yeah - I know, not E3 or E9, but... Jeezzee.... 1972 2002tii on BaT.... Wonderful looking (and I presume driving car) - but $250k worth of wonderful? I don't know how that is possible... I don't have that much into my Coupe (via SFDon) and not sure how I could have (put more $$ in) if...

    F S Exterior Parts E9

US lenses can fit either the US or Euro housing. If you want to install the shallower Euro lens, US housing (the reflectors) can be cut down to allow Euro lenses to fit. My car originally came with the housing that way (cut down US housing with Euro lenses installed).

    Mye28 problems?

When I try to go there, my browser flags the site as a security risk and won't let me open the page. Granted, is is on my work computer where I have all sorts of (non standard) security stuff that - supposedly - keeps me super duper safe. But - curiously, my computer still lets me get to this...

    Another Fjord on BaT

Right - but still to a value of what he thought it was worth (I don't know many business giving away $25k on things like this).

    Another Fjord on BaT

I love sellers comments like 'Market is $130-140k" yet met reserve at $100k. Well, then I guess that is what you thought it was worth as well.

    Another Fjord on BaT

I think the potential E9 buyer is savvy enough to see through this. He already said he is not familiar with these cars, yet has the highest praise for this specific example. BaT at its finest....

New Owner and Member - E9 2800 CS

Oh - still, either way - nice car. :) FYI - You might want to download all the pics from the BaT listing just to have as a reference. I did that for when I bought my car and it has come in handy from time to time. (not BaT, but still.... just a thought) Welcome to the insanity. LOL

    Antenna Delete

And - for radio's on these early generations of BMW's - I believe they were all dealer installed (I know they were for my 2002, and I think the E9's also). So... Antenna placement and type is a free-for-all (kinda) and why there is so much variation.
