High at the front and low at the rear

General car ride height question: if a car has too long or stiff front springs, will this push down the rear end? would spacers on the rear springs raise the height at the rear AND lower the front part of the car? Peder

    CSi Visit

Glad to hear this Chris. Everything worked when the very honest car dealer (classix.se) came to my summer house in late August to pick the car up. Have you noticed the new headliner? Can he keep the Km/h speedo? which is calibrated to the 3.15 diff I think I told him not to put the 5-6 heavy...

    CSi Visit

It’s 3,15 LS but not the way BMW did it (which didnt last very long). Done by my Swiss mechamic who did a lot of work for me. Engine was done in Germany by an ex-Alpina mechanic. A lot of upgrades and improvements make the car extremely tight and it handles like a modern car. The car was good...

10 yr old Bilsteins causing sagging rear suspension???

Sorry for being unclear. of course the springs determine the height. My question was simply if old, but little mileage shocks can sink down 0.5-1 inch after a normal short drive. I will change them next time at the garage in southern Sweden, and report back.

10 yr old Bilsteins causing sagging rear suspension???

I am in the process of adjusting the rear height on one of my cars. After slight shortening of original springs, and refitting the 10nyr old shocks, and 2 dot pads, I got the car back on the ground. I bounced the rear end up and down a few times, and sat on the edge of the trunk panel. i then...

Interior & Upholstery project questions & progress updates

I have the coconut carpet sets on top of the original German loop wool caroets, plus Dynamat of course, plus original Eberspächer mild steel exhaust systems, and this gives a very solid and quieg feel inside. And the correct engine sound

    My E9 Options

The green one is NOT Turkis! I would find the best/most expensive one that you are willing to buy. They are expensive to restore, both inside and outside. A 5 speed (OD on 5th) is a big plus. Lack of silly extra side lights as well. And stock, Euro bumpers too. Good luck. How old are you?

    Noisy ZF / transmission options

today I drove the Taiga for 350 miles. It has the ultra rare ZF 5 speed box, with 1:1 on 5th, mated to a 3,64 diff. The engine is a heavily modified 3,5 with mapped ignition and modern FI. Has 365 hp and 420Nm of torque, The box was rebuilt by a ZF specialist in Kassel, Germany. It is...

What did you do to your E9 today?

I just got to my house in Stockholm, after 360 miles from my summer house. Didn´t see any 47 year old cars, let alone in rhe left lane (itś not a real Batmobile. But meticulously done in !984-85. Pity that the donor car had a sunroof)

    General FAQ

Very early 2800 CS had invisible rear screen demist wiring in the clear glass. Probably using up the 2000CS stock. My fatherś Jan 69 car had this. Wish I had not changed to green glass in 1983. The front and rear emblems were enamel för the same reason. And the front ashtray was above the large...

What to do while windshields are out / headliner question.

I think that the dashboard top is easily removed when the screen is out. and the headliner of course. They are available new and of very high quality. But the sun shades will have to be removed and cleaned. I had mine resprayed which worked out quite well. Cleaning didn’t do much. headliners...

Anyone using Weber's with Alpina (repro) plenum?

Why use it? Yes, it looks cool and might have been the best solution in 1972, but it is heavy and Webers are nowhere as good as modern FI. The original Bosch FI system is also quite good. foam filters on trumpets is the best solution, as far as I can make out.

Looks like it, but in very poor shape.

    How did it start?

My father bought a 2800 CS in June 1971 (I still have it). Chamonix with dark blue vinyl interior. It had been a demo car with BMW in Sweden. Here is the strange part: Munich has informed me that it was built on Jan 22nd, 1969, and yet the chassis number is 2200658. If they bagan production ’in...

Removal of the dash mounted "Fasten Seat Belt" sign

I removed mine, and thought the holes, or home made covers, would be disturbing, so I turned it around. From the cabin it no longer disturbs, and from the outside it could look like a radar detector
