Hi fellow members, I am looking for a complete front leather seat or lower part (seat) in Cognac colour. Or a piece of leather big enough to repair the driver seat of my 2800 cs. If anyone can help me, please let me know.

Regards,

Carl

i hate to tell you this but you probably are not going to find something that matches your other seats.

I was in the same situation and bought a bottom seat cover from World. I dyed it to match the color but it feels more like rubber than leather. I will be buying both front seatcovers complete from GAHH. The leather sample is lighter than original.

old seats have this thing called 'patina' ... no dye or new leather is going to match it. in order to make Leatherique work, you really need to strip the existing finish off of the leather to open up the pores and get the new dye to absorb into the leather. otherwise its like spray painting leather, it just sits on top and won't stay there. i used this product on my e30 m3 - black leather so it worked pretty well. i cleaned the hell out of the leather and the pores were relatively open and it took the dye. the good news about leatherique is you can send them a piece and they will do a relatively good job of matching the general color.

Dan has one thing correct - GAHH has the best quality leather of the 3 companies that i know that make seat kits - Cabrio used to be a relatively close 2nd. World's leather generally isn't near as high of quality.

Thank you all very much for your answers, the thing is that, I am trying by all means to preserve the original leather, the only seat that is damaged is the driver's, the rest of the seats are correct, I know that if I find a seat in color cognac, it's not going to be exactly the same as mine but then as a step two, I'll have to make them all look the same, but the most important thing is to find original leather in that color so I can keep the original seats.

I have already found the back of the driver's seat. A friend from Holland sold it to me, now I'm missing the driver's seat where you sit.

My other option is to use the leftover leather from the old backrest and try to put it in place of the seat, but it's all theory until I have it in front of me. I won't see if I can do it. Obviously all this will be done by an experienced person, a professional, not me. The option of buying all new original leather is always interesting, but we are talking about a lot more money and I would honestly like to maintain the originality as much as I can.

A big hug for everyone and thank you very much for your answers and ideas, which are undoubtedly always welcome.

Carl

really pretty interior! this would look great in green cars (esp. agave, tundra), chamonix, schwarz, sahara, anthrazit and the dark blues.

Are not most of the current products from Leatherique etc actually not dye but flexible paint?

IMHO, you want dye for leather and flexible paint on vinyl. vinyl doesn't absorb much ... leather does.

i will check and see if i have anything that would work i have some original stuff laying around

There are these fellows on eBay. They will ask for a sample to make a close match, but it is hard to get the same color and patina.

Get samples first. The samples I received are about half as thick as other leather such as GAHH.

Thank you very much @Dan Wood for telling me about the eBay guys' idea, but I already considered it at the time.

Comparing the sample seat with my originals, the seams have nothing to do with it, they don't look anything alike, but I thank you anyway.

I prefer to wait and find a seat that is in good condition, I have already found the backrest and now I just have to find the seat, I can try to use the old backrest along with the seat leather, try to have a specialist create a new seat for me, but I don't know if I have enough leather.

Thanks guys for your fabulous ideas I know if I'm patient I'll probably find it someday.
