  • Offered from single-family ownership from new
  • Acquired new by Mr Petitjean’s aunt, Alice Petitjean
  • Repainted in its present Green in Alice Petitjean’s ownership by a BMW distributor
  • Originally finished in blue; retains its original Beige interior
  • Less than 60,000 km from new

Is that interior beige? It looks like it might be white leather - which is pretty rare. Not sure if I have seen in a CSi before.

On the other hand more owners increase the chance that one of them decides to clean the engine bay.

I like the color, I see no traces of blue.

Less than 60.000 km requirers evidence beyond the odometer picture. At least bucketize the owner into one of the possible classes that explain low miles:

a) collector
b) served decades in jail for hard crime
c) owns lots of cars
e) does not drive stick
f) hates the car
g) memory problems, forgot he owned it/lost the keys
h) too lazy to fix the garage door

One owner .. wow

i) worked abroad for many years and had the car in storage (as was the case with my car).

Chris, according to the VIN chart from e9-driven, euro CS cars starting in 1/73 had a 43xxxxx number. don't know if that is mistake but the other numbers ended in 12/72. i always thought it was 74 and on as well, but i saw this when looking up something earlier in the week on colors

Interesting that Sotheby's would list (and photograph) a car so in need of a simple engine compartment cleaning. I could see if it was a barn find, but all this says to me is that the owner didn't care, which is a red flag as to what other maintenance was left undone. Which leaves us with a couple other categories of ownership:

j. I clean my car regularly, but never figured out how to open the hood. Or,
k. I detail my engine with used gear oil.

i remember that color on 630 csi + 530i from back in the day. i'm sure that 320i might have come in that color as well, but i don't remember having seen one

My VIN is 2262695 built in June 1972 & titled a 1973.
2266471 is 3,776 cars after mine.

That odometer has been around a few times, Each 100,000km is 62,137 miles. Looks like a well used engine bay for under 38,525 miles/60,000km, so those claims are dubious at best.

Since my engine was cleaned over the winter of 2015-2016 I've put well over 38,525 miles/60,000km on it, and it's much cleaner. My odometer is on its' second way around since November of 2011.

Even if she got the car at age 20 , I would not expect a 65 yo to clean the engine bay................unless of course she was a forum member. But, someone should have before presentation.

Auction house should detail the car & show before & after.
