14 inch tire news

Hello: As some of you may have seen, I got an unrepairable flat in one of my Yokohama's the other week. The options for new, decent 14 inch tires are VERY slim. I did, however go to a friends tire shop and he ordered up a couple of Miranda SPort GTX H rated tires. They are made by Yokohama and look to be about the same as the Avids I have on there already...have a looksie....215/60-14's...

Slight Speedo Error

Assuming your original tyre size is the standard 195 70 14" this size tyre will make your speedo read slightly too fast. When your speedo reads 60mph you are actually doing 58.6mph. I used the calculator available at:

I have had 215/60-14 BFGoodrich Radial T/A on my CS for 30 years. Yes, the speedo reads a little and has probably kept me out of trouble. Time to replace them from age, not mileage.
