Looking for some new wheels, and I was thinking original 7Jx14 Alpinas, but then I found out about the 15" Alpina split rim wheel

What is the going rate for beauties such as these?

Are they in any way original for a 72 CSL?

Unfortunately not. Alpina 7x14 were the only ones on a csl. This Alpina pic posted has the rare Alpina B2S rims, not to be mistaken for the Alpina CSL Standard rims.
The pic attached shows the face of the csl Alpina wheel

Yes, lots of info on here about the 7Jx14 CSL rims

The B2S 15" split rims are the same era as our cars, but could I have ordered them from BMW for my new CSL?
(had I been buying a CSL back in 1972...)

Felgen Fuchs can do the barrels and lips about 150 a half, failing that Image wheels can do them.

I'd avoid using magnesium wheels on a road car. Saw the CCK magnesium centres when I picked up my wheels from @frogisland so he might be able to advice.

At that sort of money I would ring up Image wheels and see if they would do you a one off set of wheels

$150 is the best I have found in the states by skipping over the custom wheel shops that order the parts from the spinner.

This is what I mean by spinner for those that are curious. Sometimes 20 hole wheels (like H&B’s use
BBS Motorsport halves, which are readily available new and used.).

Most likely from Alpina directly and not Bmw, back in the day.

penso che
-
Cerchi in magnesio in 3 pezzi

Google translate plus some human intervation. Thanks Gianni!

"I think that the three piece Magnesium rims were available on csl only at the request of BMW customers. Like many other things, for example - negotiable. Also, see the official bmw csl brochure with car in orange color had 3tlg alpine and that car was not an Alpina. They were not exclusive of the Alpina ones alone. The csl standard came with one piece 7x14 Alpina wheels."

FYI - Gianni is referring to the first CSL brochure that *only had an Inka CSL. Subsequent brochures include a mix of Golf and Inka CSL's. This brochure contains some other oddities that I planned on highlighting when the forum was less active. Good filler stuff. :)

Believe this was Carey Iiada Alpina with the 15” Alpina split rims sod with 215/60 r15 tires. Think the coupe changed hands to a current forum member here.

Good catch, but those are 4 bolt pattern, for 2002’s.

hello all, the ones on Barneys Alpina car are the 14" version as described by Markos with every second hole filled in and Alpina cast into some spokes. These were available in 4 sizes (see brochure) but i'm not sure if they had to come from Alpina or BMW

I have a set of 14" that I will be reproducing in the near future so watch this space. they will take the standard 20 hole rims so making them as wide as you need. I believe I read somewhere that Barneys car had the 8" wide rims (see write up)

Thanks Mark! I’m guessing that the 15’s have the step lip and the 14’s has a straight lip (as seen in the pics). I’ve seen both but wasn’t sure if the lips were original or not.

ragazzi
buona discussione
Sto imparando cose nuove!:D
