Thoughts?

The photos aren't great (too dark, not addressing many common rust spots) but this seems very nice. The one receipt provided mentions a $150k rotisserie resto and it seems like it sold for $100k in 2014. I'm curious what this goes for now, with the market down.

Also, is the "ivory" leather on the console and dash a factory option, or was that done during one of the two "refurbishments?" I haven't seen it before but I know there were some new color options added in 74. I honestly don't love the interior, but I think that is more about the dark polished wood. It reminds me of the fake plastic wood trim used in so many 90s and 2000s cars. I highly prefer the open pore wood that BMW used originally.

Here I go. Tan vinyl dash, shifter and em brake are not original. All should be black. Wood is all wrong, shiny, almost fake looking. The speaker delete ruins the correct, original look of the dash.

As Don said, do nothing until you find out where the tool kit is. Apparently there is none, only some tools(not the expensive ones or original as far as I can see) in a tool wrap in the trunk.

Receipts?

Finally, it appears there are only lap belts in the front. They won't do much to prevent whiplash and cracking your delicate skull on the dash/windshield.

Agaon, just me, but the whole interior hurts my eyes. this is a very personal car did to a previous owner's taste. And that's fine, but is it your taste?

I would move on.

Yeah I mean I agree, the interior is my least favorite part (especially the wood).

But it sounds like you are writing from a "original or bust" perspective. For instance a tool kit? Sure that is important if you want to win a concours, but it wouldn't ruin the enjoyment of the car.

Of course, the further you stray from original, the more the value will depend on the taste of potential buyers. But I don't think it is bad to replace the black leather dash and console with tan... I like this type of color change "resto-mod" much more than ones that change the whole dash, or change the seats, etc. Plenty of commenters on BAT are saying they love the interior.

I know the prior owner who commissioned the restoration and he obviously chose to make it to his tastes which aren’t for everyone. I last saw it when it sold at AutoKennel here in Costa Mesa. That was top dollar back! It has a mix of 74 and prior year features such as rear interior cards with sardine can access covers, euro stickers, painted kidney grille, removed 74 front seat shoulder belts and rear armrests. Regardless of the current $50K bid I don’t see it getting back to its 2014 sale price and in the last eleven years it has degraded a bit even though it hasn’t been driven.

JMHO but the light interior is nice with the exception of the top of the dash as it would reflect a lot of light right back up into your face. It's obviously the vision of the previous owner and it can be corrected but nothing is cheap these days. And yes the wood is all wrong it's more like the woodwork you see in an older British car (like a big Healey or a Jag Mk 3) and it can be replaced but also not cheap. Otherwise it's a very nice car and the B35 and 5 speed is a plus to my mind. I'm curious to see what it goes for in this market.
