i am considering buying this car, but i'm not as familiar with 2000c as i am with the 3.0cs what would you estimate its value to be?

my general understanding is that, while this car is more rare than the 2800 or 3.0cs, it is less valuable...i talked to la jolla independent and they said they don't recommend people buy this car, because the parts are so expensive (they mentioned that a single front light is 2000 per side).

a bit of background... the seller was going to sell the car unrestored for 6,750. he decided to do the work himself... giving the car new paint, new leather, rebuilt the carbs and refinished the wood.... i estimate that the work could have been done in LA for about 4000. for the paint, everything was taken off besides the rear and front glass and the engine...the leather looks to be probably lower quality leather (based on ripples in leather)..

any professional or experienced eyes or advice on this one?
thanks very much in advance!

Looks like someone bought it, was that you? Dont want to be insulting if it is, but you better love the car because nobody else does. At least not eighteen large worth of love. Its a CS, the C was an automatic unless it was converted.

i was thinking something more like 11-12k.
actually, this is why i'm writing... to see how much its worth. so i can get some experienced advice...

2000cs

I have a 2000cs, and yes people do love them. But they don't command nearly as much as a later 6 cylinder model. Anyway, 18K is pretty much for that car in my opinion. 11K is probably good for this car. Don't look for these to appreciate much. You can generally get these in the 5-7K range that are not as nice as this one. My car is probably in the 5K range, and it will stay there since i'm not going to pour any dollars into it other than getting it running and driving for fun.
The only problem I see with this car is that it wasn't a CS to start with, but if the engine was uprated, (higher CS compression) then with the addition of sway bars, who cares.
These do come up for sale now and then. So if your not sure, you can wait.

here's some comparisons

I don't know the 2000cs market well enough to value that car. But I will say that if the seller did paint, leather, and wood he spent FAR more than $4,000. If the body was perfect - no rust or accident damage - just a decent paintjob would eat up all of that $4,000 budget.

The 2000cs is definitely an "acquired taste". But I wouldn't go so far as to say that no one loves them.
