Hello All,

(NOTE: I'm having problems with the photo uploader. Please PM me with your email address and I will email you photos).

I regretfully must sell my 1970 2800CS. Over the last two years she went through an extensive body restoration in Texas, now finished in Atlantik Blau. She's had all her mechanicals gone through, and many repairs made making her a very nice driving, sweet running coupe. The body work and paint was done to an excellent standard with all photos to back up the work and show the level of strong detail. Nothing poorly done, all solid and strong. All elements of the car have been carefully gone through to make right and true. She has been stored and properly cared for. The body and mechanical work was a a two year process. She's a 5 speed, short shift. There's some small work to be done here and there with radio console, perhaps a new exhaust, and other minor DYI weekend tinkering, but overall she is a great car. I would strongly encourage PPI's. The only paperwork i have on her is from my ownership, nothing previous. The car is currently at a detail/storage facility in Salt Lake City and can be easily viewed. I was inspired by Murray's BlueMax originally which is how I came to her, (and followed that color scheme). I had a few phone calls with Murray post-purchase and he was a wonderful man. I'd like to thank Peter Coomaraswamy on this E9 forum for his guidance and friendship after my purchase. Peter knows the car intimately, and as many of you know, is a knowledgeable and affable man, and lover of the E9s. I've posted some photos here. I can email more. Please serious inquiries only. I'm asking $30,000, and negotiable. I think we the high standard of body work done, one is getting a solid price of admission into a super clean, sweet, and honest coupe. She's a smooth runner, and ready for someone to drive her daily. Best regards

Know the car

I do know the car pretty well as it was down here with me for quite a while (probably a year or so) and pretty much everything was gone through. Philip had an open account with Ben & Carl so if anything needed to be replaced it was. All the minor issues Philip alludes to can be addressed while driving and the conversion was done really well (not by me) though I would like to take credit for that. I supervised, ad nauseam, the paint and body work along with some additional strengthening in a couple of areas. The car drives very nice, starts after sitting for a month, blows no smoke, stays cool, darn near completely original though we did replace the carpet with World Upholstery stuff. Paint is really nice, new tires, brakes, wheels are beautiful. I did some suspension work, mostly replacing the bushings- I did not do all of them, forgot which ones I did- but anyhow I can answer questions along with Philip if anyone is interested.

Good luck with the sale. Lots and lots of higher res photos would be helpful in presenting this car.

Took quite a while to get these transferred and I don't want to junk up the site with a million pictures but I have everything between the first and last pics. We welded up the speaker holes because I hate those things, so you can guess that we did a pretty thorough job remediating the rust. I imagine nothing is perfect but if anyone is interested I can send pictures by email, about 100 for now. I tried to get some money shots but if people want me to post more I will- I guess it could be a documentary of sorts?

And thanks for looking, I think it's a fair price and a PPI could confirm that- I always like a second (or third) opinion because I realize what's a good job for some may not be for others, and this was a tough car and took a long time but I was happy when she was done and pleased with the outcome.

more shots

When we did this job I thought it would be really important to show all the work done; most of it was on the body and there was quite a bit of mechanical work done as well- in fact I forgot how much work was done on this thing until I started going through the pictures. Again, not a 100 point restoration but a good solid driver and I left some very minor things un done so Philip would have some tinkering to do when he brought her home, things like putting the glove box in, the front seat belts and a couple of minor trim pieces. I also suggested putting a better exhaust system in. The front and rear brakes were completely gone through and all hardware in the rear brake system is new. The front brakes are in perfect order and we put de Q's parking brake mechanism in. I donated my thicker front sway bar from the stock 74 as I put a monster bar from IE in mine. The thrust bushings and motor mounts were replaced as well. Somewhere along the line this car was painted (poorly) red, and then black so if you look at the wiper motor you will see that previous paint quality was not up to snuff. I left that little color change job for Philip- not sure he got to it. I'll remember more (I hope) as the day goes on. The interior is good and the wood is perfect, because the parcel shelf had holes drilled in them and I could not find another at the time I put the original speaker grills back on but as you can see from the previous shots there are no structural holes remaining. Fenders are rolled and the paint finally came out good; I was not happy with the paint so they re-shot the car 3 times- needless to say the body folks were not happy with me but the owner promised that he would do everything to my satisfaction- and to his credit he repainted it each time I asked.
