I stopped by to see and drive the car and there were three other geezers with appointments so I would say the interest level is about eight geezers per hour, which means sixteen geezers per day. Assuming most of them want to see the car the first day and that half of them forget to put an offer I expect about ten offers to be submitted by Friday.
The car looks like a first owner car, one that had a good mechanic that did not let things fall apart, but no body shop to do the same for the body/paint/finish. The interior looks nice in the sense that it is original and nothing is torn but you feel you are driving in an old vinyl seat. It has a period Blaupunkt but I did not check if it works because they are lousy even when they do. Steering wheel and shifter are nice.
From the ride I suspect the suspension can use repairs, the engine had really bad dieseling to the point that drivers tried to turn it off and the engine kept running so they turned the key again and left it running. There is a grinding sound that maybe transmission or some other friction in the drivetrain.
In terms of body it seems solid, somehow the doors feel less tight than the coupe maybe because it is a 4 door. There is a rust area around the rear window/trunk but looks contained (see picture). The driver side doors are not smooth in texture/paint so there may have been some heroic work done to fix a dent. Surface rust on one floor (picture).
Steering components look good.
Brake warning light is always on (there is enough brake fluid), all tools are there they just fell off the tool while test driving. The hood does not stay up, the torsion bar looks different than the coupe, it may be a hack.
If I bought this car and wanted to sort it out I assume I would have to spend another 5k to be happy. Actually I am never happy.
