Back in 2023, I purchased this 1970 E3/2800 with the intent of restoring it - but my interests shifted over the last two years - I've decided I wanted to build a hybrid street / track car from a Bavaria (especially after seeing Shawn Essex's 2800cs track car and being around the Luigi CSL at Laguna Seca Historics).

This vehicle is VIN 242-0398, a member of the first 708 Series 1 E3's shipped to the USA, before Max Hoffman got involved in the "Bavaria" re-branding effort with BWM. It's not an E9, but it's about halfway through the first Series 1 production run, so hopefully it will go to an enthusiast that wants to restore it, or perhaps parts from this vehicle will support other on-going Series 1 restoration projects.

VIN Details:

Other details:
  • The car is currently located in the Los Angeles area in storage.
  • Interior is fairly rough, and is equivalent to the exterior.
  • The previous owner was tinkering with the carbs, and had them rebuilt. The car is not running.
  • Vehicle VIN is not in the California database. I have a title.
  • I have a fair amount of spare parts - front & rear windshields, spare trunk, spare hood, 4 spare door shells, trunk chrome, etc..

$2K for the car. We can negotiate price on parts if someone is interested in a package deal.

DM me if you're interested.
