1971 2800CSA white, San Diego, $25k

looks pretty nice from quasi dark photos, especially for 25k ... quite refreshing. not so sure about that black trunk, i guess a can of SEM storm gray would fix that. did think it was curious that there were long studs on the shock mounts ... very strange for a 2800cs ... very curious what led to that.

why? the 2800cs didn't have the raised bumper height issues that came into play later with subsequent regulations. no other 2800cs that i have seen has the elongated studs. could have had some damage that caused replacement with 3.0cs struts (with longer studs) ... hard to tell if the passenger side has the longer studs.

in looking at the pictures again - we only see the driver's side ... no pics of the passenger side. i can't see the exhaust tailpipe either ... its quite dark in the pics at that point. the 2800cs badge has been shaved off - quite difficult to get a good replacement.

-cautious, not necessarily suspicious-

No torsion bar on the hood and looks like undercoating on the wiper motor and no under-riders on the rear bumper. That being said, looks like a pretty nice ride and if there are no rust issues then a great car to begin with and maybe even "end" with :) especially for 25K

Scott, I think the 2800CS got the spacers, all US models were 1970 and later. Even 2002s built in 1969 had them. The strut bearing came with short or long studs depending on the application. I think you can only buy long stud bearings now and then cut them or pop out and replace with short studs.

Disclaimer: I could be wrong!

While you guys are wasting time discussing this coupe Googoutgoogout is on his way down to SD from Beverly Hills to pick this car up. Expect to see this car on Ebay next week for double the price.

Scott,

We are both correct. They were introduced at 2270244 and 2280266, manual and auto for USA, respectively. Also used from 4330001, 4350001 and 4360001 and all US 74s and 2.5CS.

Scott,

I think they were replaced when short stud versions were still available. This is from the Orange Parts books.

The white car has spacers, look how low the strut cap sits, at fender height vs the first coupe.

the first pic was the white coupe from cormier. the silver one is the one with the low struts ... it is a '71. my '71 has short studs
