Hi There,

In August I traded my 1966 Thunderbird Convertible for a 1971 BMW 2800 CS. I don't know much about E9's and thought I would join the forum. The car is in great shape the guy I traded with had it in storage for 4 years before he started driving it May of this year, I applied for and received Collectors Plates here in B.C. Canada. The guy he got it from spent 8K on the motor it runs perfect. The color of the car is Black my guess is the repaint was done 5 to 7 years ago. The shock towers at the front are solid and metal, as a magnet sticks to it. I think they have been redone because the data tag on the passenger side is missing.

I had the VIN decoded:

The BMW 2800 CS US VIN 2270600 was manufactured on March 23rd, 1971 and delivered on May 5th, 1971 to Canada. The original colour was Polaris metallic, paint code 060.

I was wondering if there are any experts locally they would be willing to look over the car with me to see what I actually have.

Aaron,

There are one or two guys in BC and at least one (Pamp) on the island. There are also a bunch of us down here in the Seattle area. If you ever come down this way I would be happy to take a look.

I love the red interior. It looks to be in great shape.

Welcome! Love the color combo.

BTW, you must have great taste in cars. IMO, the '66 Thunderbird convert is the best looking of all them.

Sven,

Won't make it down to Seattle this year with the car, but may take you up on the offer next summer.

Thanks,

Hi Aaron,
I'm in Vancouver B.C. and have a 1970 2800 cs I've owned for 15 years. It's a low mileage car at just under 50,000 and is the second coupe I've owned, the first being a 1973 3.0 cs and a Bavaria previous to that. I'd be happy to have a look at your car as there are few left around here these days. You can email me through this site.

1970 2800cs, 1962 Buick Skylark convertable, in need of resto soon.

Vince,

The wife still isn't impressed, the T-Bid was used in three of her friends weddings it makes for great pictures. I added some pictures of it to my original link.

Beautiful car even if it brings back bad memories :)

Nice trade. I think your wife will come around. I had a 62' T -Bird briefly. While it was a study in design , especially the interior, it was not nearly as nice to work on as a German car IMHO.
