1971 BMW 3.0CS Euro Coupe For Sale
German-delivered 3.0CS with two prior owners, both female and fully documented. The original owner held the car for 35 years, from 1971 until 2006. The second owner then held the car for another 17 years, selling it to a dealer/restorer (Oldenzaal Classics) in 2023. The present owner is the third owner of this wonderful car after having it shipped from the Netherlands to the USA where it is properly registered in New Jersey. All documented. The car was updated as needed and still retains its original engine, drive train, paint and exhaust system!

This BMW 3.0 CS was built on December 7, 1971 and delivered on December 17, 1971 to BMW Dealer Müller in Düsseldorf, Germany. The first buyer was a woman, Barbara Ballion, who bought and registered the car on December 23, 1971. The car was then sold to Mathe Kathrin Gampfer (born Brandherm) on April 21, 2006. She remained caretaker of the 3.0cs until it was sold to Oldenzaal Classics, a reputable Dealer in the Netherlands for restorative work. All indications show an original 1971 BMW 3.0CS that was well cared for, not abused or ignored, and maintained at the highest levels and is completely rust free. While the mileage is unknown, it is believed that the mileage on the odometer is correct since the engine and transmission are in outstanding, healthy condition, and many original components are intact throughout. This E9's undercarriage is in immaculate, original condition with no rust/rust repair of any kind. A truly rare find for these cars from the 1970's. It is one of 1,974 Euro 3.0cs coupes made in 1971.

By way of background, the car was produced in December 1971 in its original color #060 Polaris Silver. A timeless color that looks classy and works well with the green-tinted windows and sparkling chrome trim. The red leather interior has been restored in its original red color and is in beautiful, as new condition. Many original parts were rebuilt, and countless hours were spent servicing this 3.0cs to bring it to this current outstanding condition.

The car’s body is beautiful as evidenced by the photos of the car. The paintwork and the body is beautiful: a few scratches, no dings, and a beautiful shine. A nice and solid body with proper shut lines and the correct fold in the body sides. The doors, fenders, and trunk are all original and fit nicely, lining up perfectly. The engine-bay is clean and correct. On and around the body, crisp chrome accents highlight the paint perfectly. The chrome and stainless trim around the car presents nicely as well as the trim around the windows for 53 years of age. There are nice clear original headlights (all 4 units) in deep-black grilles at the car’s nose. The bumpers show good quality chrome and have fresh bumper strips. Correct textured paint is still present under the front and rear bumpers, along the rockers on each side, and behind the rear wheels.

The engine-bay of this Coupe is fresh and correct. It houses the original matching numbers 3.0 Liter Inline six that runs excellently. It’s been gone through with the carburetors (2 original Zenith Carbs) rebuilt and set-up perfectly. The ignition is fresh, and it (cold) starts, idles and runs excellently. It makes great power and is happy to run up the rev range. A recent compression test was performed and shows pressures of 180-181psi in all 6 cylinders. A further summary of the work recently performed is outlined below.

The exhaust system is intact with no rust or holes in the metal. It consists of original Bosal mufflers #247-792, and #247-807-ALU and an Eberspächer long rear muffler.

The upholstery is excellent in its original color, red, in genuine leather. The door panels have been reupholstered in the same leather, with perforated inserts. Correct brand new loop-style carpets are present in an anthracite/salt-pepper color and are covered with a set of spotless black and red-dotted coco mats. The headliner is the original from 1971 and presents beautifully: still clean, crisp and white. The wood and the vinyl dash are in great, original shape. No cracks or tears are present in the dash pad or the headliner. There is the correct original textured black paint around the dash gauges and steering column. There is a beautiful Nardi wood-rimmed steering wheel in outstanding as-new condition.

This 3.0cs still possesses its original Blaupunkt-Frankfurt AM/FM mono radio with the single, original Blaupunkt speaker in the dash.

The trunk of the car has been redone completely. All panels have been reupholstered in the correct elephant-gray vinyl. The original tool-tray is present and houses a complete set of tools and a blue BMW towel with a replacement storage bin covered in the same gray vinyl. An original Goodyear spare tire on an original wheel is located in the trunk. The original jack and lever are both present as well.

A reprint owner’s manual in German rests in the glove box. The car also includes the original Blaupunkt-Frankfurt radio manuals in German.

This E9 was delivered without a sunroof.

The fact that the first pictures you posted are of the bottom of the car speaks volumes! You know your audience. Beautiful coupe, the silver on the red leather is very nice.
Thanks. I am happy to answer any questions anyone has about the E9.

Really beautiful. Only thing I don't like are the doorpanels. The originals must have been totaled. To be fair, red ones are available nowhere. Replicas in leather are perfectly acceptable. Just don't boast the perforated material is correct. It is, but in a 74/75 car, not in a 71 one. Same game with the armrests. Red ones don't exist. See the black tops. Sometimes it is a pity.

World Upholstery should have that shade of red in a rattle can that you can shoot the tops of the armrest with. SEM might have a similar color too.

If some of the interior work remains, the armrest tops can also be covered in matching red leather.

Thanks for pointing this out to me. I was told by Oldenzaal that the door panels were original to the car. I guess I have a bone to pick with them.....Obviously, I am not as knowledgeable as the members on this Forum!
I'll look at what's proposed re: leather and SEM paint suggestions....
Thanks....
