1971 Polaris 2800 on BaT obligatory post

thanks for sharing that information Chris ... this is one of the great things about information sharing on this forum as it will protect somebody from making a mistake.

yikes….
Wow… interesting developments at Bat…I am much too naïve for an old grandpa. I am always surprised when people deliberately screw people over.

note…I mistakenly posted this over on the Orange discussion. Apologies

For all the paint detectives out there, the photo below was snapped in January 2021.

What should we be noticing?

Several commenters (particularly mohockey) were not satisfied with the sellers timeline on the paint. My only point is that the the picture of the car getting painted is from this year.

I wouldn’t touch any of that seller’s cars with a ten foot pole. He does not reply directly to questions and knows nothing about coupes or 2002s. And every new paint job has some filler or skim coat on it but check his CSi photos of the tail panel, there must be a quart applied at least.

His answers to questions were something else. Carl Nelson worked on his car. Therefore the car is worth $175K like the other one. ‘Nuff said!!

Haha I remember that well.

I am not a paint detective but…Just an FYI…. That pic shown has no exif dat. That lack of exif data is typical of a screenshot. If it was ‘snapped’ it would have location and camera info. Screenshots only show the date of the screenshot was taken.
Jan 9 is a Saturday. that guy looks like he only works Monday to Friday. Haha!

The source pic is not a screenshot. As I did, anyone can download the full image from a BaT listing. A missing location is not a sign of altered exif data or a screenshot. For instance, you will never get location data from my iphone pics. It is configurable on cameras and phones.

That is a screenshot of my exif viewer, and below is a screenshot of how to save BaT images properly.

Special note to @sfdon who screenshots BaT frequently.
