2800cs should have all silver front and hood grilles and rear drum brakes, cannot see the brakes but it looks like a 3.0 to me, just does not look like a very early car,

2800CS always had black grilles, only the 2500/2800 sedans had silver. This car is on Facebook Marketplace in LA, something is fishy.
yes on the front grilles ... Pretty sure the 2800cs had chrome hood / fender grilles. i think that was what Pat meant (side not front)

2800cs had those type of seats?

My recline levers are low.

My titled 1971 2800cs was built on 02/1970.

USA weird like that. It's usually a marketing trick to think you're getting the latest model.

However, 1972? No way.

VIN says what?

Awesome car BTW. Needs of course undercarriage shots, etc.

The seat back release levers changed mid 2800CS build. Coupes imported to the US had DOT/EPA stickers stating the Model Year, a coupe built in 2/70 is still a 1970 but it wasn’t done when car was sold new, that wasn’t allowed. Some prior owner and DMV screwed up the title.

The coupe in question may be a scam, it’s on Hemmings and fb in two different states.

It is registered as a 1971 2800 CS in the registry. The gauges are 2800 CS and the console is early. Washer jets are early. All signs point to a 1971 2800 CS to me.

Grilles and other plastic consumables are a distraction IMO. They are the first thing to get damaged and replaced. The wipers are also black and the tail panel is aluminum, not the proper chrome version.
