Text from dealer's site:
Chequered Flag International is pleased to offer this 1972 BMW 3.0 CS in Silver with Blue interior. 49,890 miles on odometer.
Equipped with 4 speed manual, Sunroof & A/C. Owned for the last 5+ years by a Santa Barbara collector who rebuilt the engine, repainted the car, put new carpets & roof liner in etc. An astute car guy who picked a very straight, rust free example with the right options in the best color.
Runs & drives very well indeed. All windows work.
Could use a few final fixes: Battery tie down, straighten steering wheel, both rear side widows are pitted, etc - the last 5% of a good restoration which we will get to it if we have time but lots of cars inbound and we are a small outfit. Call me for a more complete description if you like - Neil.
Inspections encouraged, all sales AS-IS. Sales tax & license fees due if delivered in California.

I will enter it in the Registry, assuming Z240290 is really 2240290. Would a July 72 build date coupe have icons on the vent panel as opposed to writing?

Strange, mine is 2240284 and it does not have the icons. I thought that was euro?

wow, nothing gets past you guys!
does the behr tag mean that it has an aftermarket ac installed? maybe that forced them to use the panel? just a guess. or maybe that's all the po could find when restoring the interior?
btw, they don't mention if there is paperwork to confirm the low miles.

This car is available again for $60k. Did not sell first time on eBay. I contacted the seller and here is the response I got:

"this is widely recognized as the second most collectible car BMW ever made ... the m1 is #1 and they are 3 million now . BMW only put their badge on the side of two cars the 3.0 and the M1.. this car was bilt as a race car it makes 300 hp and weighs 2800 lbs it will go 150 MPH and its very quick.
its not much slower than my Porsche Targa 4 s and the suspension is every bit as good.

this car will be worth over $100kin the next few years ..."

As nice as the car may be, how do you take someone seriously with nonsense like that? Every single statement is wrong!

THE 507 IS THE ULTIMATE
maybe go to 70K
too many "exact" units out there
we know how to pick apart every exact detail

The coupes all got Behr A/C components in the US.

A couple of random observations from my cars, I don't know how they apply. My '71 Euro has icons on the vent panel. It also has a MPH speedo and other US bits though. My '73 Euro with AC has a Gerrman wording, as I assume one would expecet. Regarding the comment from Chris, I did find a BEHR plate inside the car.
