1973 CS US to European bumper conversion

My 1973 CS has the US spec steel bumpers. I have a few questions if anyone has done this.

Is it a matter of finding a set of the shorter Euro brackets and drilling the body at the inward position to carry the returns of the bumpers?

Do the euro brackets have identical mounting points?

Is cutting and welding US brackets viable?

My Bumper Conversion

The topic of bumper conversions comes up quite a bit. I thought I'd share what I did to my US '74. I searched for many months for bumpers in good shape within my budget, but didnt have any luck. I ultimately found a pretty good front on eBay at a reasonable price, and then bought a rear unit...

I guess the rear is easy; just gotta fill the holes left on the quarters after the conversion and paint.

For the Fronts, I guess you can add (weld) some extra plating to make up the difference in the early bumper brackets.

BTW, I would try to find bumpers that are of the '68-72 variety; not '73.
