I'm in San Francisco and I need a light blue, white, grey, cream or silver 1974 BMW 3.0 CS for a photo shoot.
The resulting photo will be used for a book cover, a novel.
I can pay a rental fee.
The car doesn't need to be driven in the photos, it just needs to show up at the location and I would only need it for 2 or 3 hours.

Please let me know if you know where to find a car like this IN OR NEAR SAN FRANCISCO.

I need to shoot this soon.

Feel free to pass this email to anyone who might be able to find this car.

Thank you.

Regards,

..the question really is what sort of fee is reasonable (more on this later) and why a '74? Is your book about something related and you have an example of every other year model or?

There is a guy I recall reading about this summer who runs a tight truck and auto rental outfit in Northern CA (south of SF) that deals out almost exclusively with the film industry and among many other things has a Fjord blue 3.0CS for rent and if I can find it I will post it up here later. He is a retired Teamster, worked his way up in the film industry in Hollywood as Driver, Grip, truck owner and moonlights as a 'heavy' in the acting arena...has a fairly extensive car collection for 'Hero' car use only...etc. (ie. no heavy camera mounts, etc)

Note: IIRC I think his name is Vincent and the reason I remember is that he was also reported to have been tangentially involved (and looks the part) in the disappearance of Jimmy Hoffa. Of course this is yet to be confirmed as the evidence is of course long missing!

Also IIRC Sean/Robin Penn's Blue '72 fjord was on the market recently somewhere close recently?

Now back to the fee involved: Given your choice of Moniker and inexpensive film format (16mm) the local SF BMW dealer may be a bit too expensive but in a pinch you can do what Producers always do, get one from their rental operation for a few hours (URL here below) and just take it out of the Editing budget!
