1975 CSi project on BaT

This could be a great project car for somebody. Runs, stops and drives it sounds like. Definitely one that can be modded without feeling guilty about it. I bet the sharks circle towards the end of this auction.

A CSi that already has a California title and registration has value beyond what it otherwise would have.

Even if the car is taken out of state, my understanding is that as long as you can show history of it having been titled in CA (at some point) - that allows it to come back in without going through all the hoops another car would have to do (I believe anyway).

I'd be careful with that. Even my '73 Bavaria that was in CA its whole life including Blue Plate had to get some silly Federal sticker of sorts once it came to Idaho for a year then back to Cali. I'd never heard of that required Federal sticker before but did learn there is a place in Poland I think that makes them (repro stickers).

I'm not talking about "Federalizing it", just a sticker that was required. It could well depend on who is "working" the DMV counter that day. With a CSI it still may involve other paperwork. Best thing to do is keep it in CA if possible. Not sure if someone that has gone through the same thing wants to chime in. And I am hearing a lot of changes are coming to CA regarding the smog stuff for diesels and I think older than 35 year old cars. Again, not sure on the specifics.

I had a feeling the sharks would come out on this one (regarding the auction)...not a big surprise.

Only if it has a federalzation sticker. If a VIN verification is required they'll look for the sticker. Without it it will fail. Need monkey business after that. The sticker on that car would probably work.

I didn't have a fed sticker, they sent me to Highway patrol who verified the VIN on different parts of the car and motor. It worked out fine but I wonder what would have happened if it hand an engine swap.

But 2800cs' don't have to have a federal sticker since they were sold here. CSi's are grey market cars and taboo in CA.
