Well my car is still running poorly. I have only been sinking a few hours a week into it. Winter is coming, and I'm going to store it for a three months. If you all remember, I removed my original 3.0 csi motor because it was stuck from sitting many years. Once removed it freed right up with the head off. It revealed a healthy looking engine with high compression piano top Pistons believed to be rebuilt in Germany circa 1980s. Not sure if those Pistons are original to the car? Anyhow I put in a 1977 3.0 sedan engine in an attempt to drive the car and sort out the electronics and so forth prior to beginning any type of dismantle/resto. I would at least like to start with a functional car so when it goes back together there are less mysteries.
So my questions:
Does the 75 engine come with piano top Pistons factory? (Matching number engine)
The largest ground wire coming from the ballast before the coil, should that be fastened to the valve cover?
How many volts should be reading at the injectors while running? Cranking? Key on?
If my volts are low where should I look for problems?
Voltage regulator?
While the car sits for winter, what components should I have checked that I can't test myself? D-jet brain? Manifold vacuum pump regulator thing? Etc? Do I send them to Bosch?
I did buy an e28 as a back up engine source with a 5 speed. And all electronics. But it would kill me to cut that car up as it is in fine shape.
